Hi guys,

This is my first post on mumsnet. I have recently stopped taking the pill (microgynon) on 22/04/20 and i had my withdrawal bleed from 24/04 to the 27/04. I am now waiting for my 1st period which is due in just over a week. My and my OH have decided the time is right and want to TTC just wondering if there is anyone else in the same boat on here 🙂

@Gizzy23 hi, I'm in a similar position to you, recently came off Ovranette end of April/early May and have decided with fiance its time to start ttc, I've had my withdrawal bleed only a few days after stopping the pill but not my 1st natural AF yet but I've started using OPK's to try and get a better understanding of what's going on so fingers crossed, good luck on your ttc journey xx

Hiya I came off the pill after about 14 years, I'm on cycle 3, in the two week wait right now but pretty sure I'm not pregnant, will find out in a few days. With coming off the pill, some people seem to fall straight away whereas others it takes a long time for their bodies to get back to normal before it happens, so I'm trying my hardest not to be too disappointed already!

@KatieG200394 Have you had any luck yet with the OPK's? I was going to start tracking after my first period but unsure of when that will be hoping in a weeks time.

@Lovebug06 I was on the pill for a long time as well 12 years. I have read so many different posts where some people have come off and conceived in a few weeks and others it has taken a few months.
Do you mind me asking when did you come off the pill and how long did you have to wait to get your first proper period?

@Gizzy23 not yet but the test lines are starting to get darker so hoping I'll get a positive one soon, you can get them pretty cheap off Amazon if you want to just jump straight into it, our bodies will go back to normal eventually, another thread I'm on have been really helpful xx

Hi ladies! In a similar position to you all. Have just come off the pill Femodene after approx 6 years on it, I was on Yasmin for 3 years before that, took my last one on 3/5/20 and have just finished my withdrawal bleed. I got opks from amazon to try and see if I ovulate this month or how it works! Ttc baby #1 with husband, been married a year this month 😊

Hi, I came off Cerelle on 26th April (27th April was first day pill free). I had a bleed (thinking withdrawal bleed?) 30th April to 4th May.
I am 34 and have a 6yo DD from a previous relationship, this would be my current DP’s first DC.
I’m thinking that I won’t ovulate this month as have only had a withdrawal bleed so am waiting to see if I get AF.

@Gizzy23 my periods have come right on time! Actually a little early. I'm taking this and hoping it's a good sign my body is going back to normal although I'm not sure. They are very light though.

I came off the pill in February and I'm pretty sure I had a positive test this morning but it's a squinter. Happened the same first time round too. I know I must be very lucky though and no guarantees this one will stick. Fingers crossed

@Gizzy23 I'm trying out a few atm to see which one I like best, Glow and Premom are my favourite so far and like @jbx10 said, I've also started taking vitamins to help prepare my body, I think they are definitely helping because I was very tired before starting those, I'm using Pregnacare before conception which was recommended on the other thread xx

@jbx10 i have had some pains in my lower abdomen this month, not too sure if they were ovulation pains or not. I have been on the pill so long can't remember what they were even like.

@Justkeepswimming91 you and me both i didn't know there was so much involved with ttc it has blown my mind. DPO is days post ovulation so when people say they are in the two week wait it means they know what day they ovulated on by using tests and now they are seeing if they get any pregnancy twinges or symptoms.

@Luxc90 congratulations on your wedding 🎉 this will be our first baby as well. We are due to be married in 2022 and was going to wait till after the wedding but i just turned the big 30 and have such maternal urges so we decided to go for it now.

@LittleRa sounds lovely that you will be having your 1st one with your partner. This was my first month off as well and don't think too much happened. I am due AF in a week so was just going to see if that comes and go from there

@Gizzy23 thank you! I just turned 30 as well, hubby is coming 33 so want to get started soon rather than, especially if it takes a few months. It's funny how much my maternal feelings came through when I turned 30! Are you going to track ovulation with opks? I'm still getting my head around them! Fingers crossed our bodies go back to normal quickly 🤞

I've been on the pill ten years and can't really remember what my cycle was like pre pill although thinking about if I had missed periods I think I would have remembered as being 18 at the time I probably would have panicked. This would be our first. My DH is 32.

Hey... I finished pill 26/4, had withdrawal bleed 1/5 for 4 days. I’ve started using OPKs but not had anything show up yet so not really sure what my body is doing. We are DTD but sorta want AF to arrive so can track a bit more easily! The weeks seem to go by so slowly! Good luck everyone xx

Me ☺️ I came off the pill on the 7th of April and had with withdrawal bleed 5 days later. I've actually just got my first proper period today, which I was very surprised about as my glow app predicted it would be today, after I guessed my cycle length at 30 days. Kind of disregarded what the app said but then much to my surprise it came like clockwork. Was on the pill for 13 years before I stopped in April.

We were waiting until after I got my period to TTC. I haven't started using ovulation sticks or anything yet but think I may start from CD5 or a few days after. Let me know if anyone has any tips for tracking ovulation etc, as it all looks rather confusing!

I'm taking folic acid and vitamin D but no prenatal supplement as read they can make your cycle longer so thought I would try without first

@Luxc90 I know i have never really been the maternal type then all of a sudden it just came on so strong and i dont want to wait any longer. I was going to wait until next week when i will hopefully have AF come along and then go from there. I don't want to stress myself out with the tracking though.

@Squidge12 Can totally relate to the time going so slowly feel like i finished the pill ages ago but it really wasn't. Its funny how before you didn't want a period now wishing for it to come

@MintGreenLife wow that's really good that your period is back already, hopefully your body is getting back to normal. Im not too sure about tracking either it looks and sounds quite stressful

@Gizzy23 I must say I was pretty surprised, think it was purely a coincidence that it came the same day my Glow app said it would. Have you started TTC or are you waiting to get your period first? Like many above I don't think I've ever wanted my period to come so much before. After 13 years without 'proper' periods, I'm very intrigued to see what this one is like. It's like learning about your body all over again.

@Gizzy23 I did a test this morning and it was negative so I'm very confused now. It might have been a chemical pregnancy unfortunately. Still feel pregnant though so will test again in a couple of days if my period doesn't come

Hi, I came off the pill nearly 3 weeks ago and no sign of my withdrawal bleed which is odd as in the past when I haven’t been consistent with my pill I.e. missed a day or two by accident I’ve had a bit of a bleed!! I have been on cerazette for approx 12 years. Getting married this year but decided to start TTC now even if it means I’m pregnant when we get married. We’ve started already even though some of the advice says to wait until after your first natural period.

Report
Luxc90 · 12/05/2020 14:34

@Butterfly2105 I think they only advise waiting for a natural period so they can date the pregnancy better! We're trying to decide whether to crack on too or wait for a period, I've seen some ladies on here who waited 60days for it and I don't think I'm that patient lol!
