Sperm leakage after sex? Experiences?

Does anyone have sperm leaking after sex, I’ve googled it to the ends of the earth and apparently it doesn’t affect fertility and conception but wanted to know your experiences?

@ttcchapter1 I myself have googled it too cause let's be honest it happens to us all 😂 from what I've found out only a certain percentage of semen is actually sperm & the sperm breaks away from the semen on their way to your fallopian tubes, it is semen that leaks after DTD & some sperm but there fast swimmers so what leaks out wouldnt have made it anyway. It definitely doesnt affect your chances of TTC, I have a 5 year old, plus have had 2 MC & an Ectopic Pregnancy 😊

You can prop ones lower half up using a pillow to prevent it.

This is normal surely? It’s not like the semen just disappears up your vagina forever unless you’ve got the Bermuda Triangle shoved up there and you’re not telling us? It might be a good idea to keep yourself at an angle until your cervix has finished ‘lapping’ (not idea what’s the correct term is) but after that I doubt there’s any benefit in trying to keep it in.

Huh? Of course it comes back out..? It doesn’t all stay up there... But I would lay back for a while to allow them to swim
And do their business before going to bathroom to clean up..
Also a lot of the fluid is actually a “plug” that forms to stops the active sperm swimming back out the wrong way - but it has to come out afterwards.

Thank you everyone for the comments. As I said in my post, my question wasn’t about it’s normality or if it happens. It was whether or not some people have had a lot of leakage and its affected conception or fertility.

I just lie with my hips propped up with a pillow and use a soft cup to keep it in for as long as I can! Usually at least half an hour, although there’s conflicting information as to whether it’s effective but it’s worth a try!

It's impossible to hold it all in. The actually sperm will swim in through the cervix and the semen will come out. I can't imagine having it all stay in there for ever??

Some men ejaculate much more semen than others so how noticeable it is can really vary.

OP- how would anyone know if their leakage is more than anyone elses? Do you compare the amount with friends? Also, how would we know IF its affected our fertility??? There are far more causes for infertility that fluid coming out after DD.

You would naturally produce more CM yourself when having sex, so a proportion of what comes back out will be CM also.

FYI- CM will sit on top of toilet paper and not absorb into it, whereas semen will be absorbed.

Yes and I wondered about this impacting conception. I would assume that's why women put their legs in the air afterward etc.

I brought a menstrual cup which I put in straight after sex, no idea if it was coincidence but first time I did this I got pregnant (we'd been trying over a year)

Yes got pregnant after 3 cycles and sometimes had leaks, didn't seem to make a difference :)

Don't worry OP, those of us on the conception board know what it's like to question everything when we are TTC so I don't think anyone was trying to be malicious, just trying to be humourous as well as perhaps reassure anyone else that has ever worried about it that it's very normal!

For both DC I laid with a pillow under my bum after sex for 10 minutes or so. No idea if it helped but I felt better about doing it

@ttcchapter1 You've got a right to ask I've seen crazier questions on here & anybody who is desperately TTC finds themselves asking all sorts of questions, I'm not stupid I'm 28 & I have a son & I have also questioned whether the leakage affected the amount of little swimmers so dont feel discouraged by the people who have replied with sarcasm comments, it's not nice & it's not needed 😊 like you've says your question was does it affect fertility & chances to conceieve not is it normal we all know it's normal it happens to us all! Theres no way to keep it in it just is what it is. So dont worry lovely it doesnt affect anything & ignore the immature comments were all ladies who should be supporting one another X

@Elouera no need to be like that about it. People would know if they have more than the norm if for example they’ve raised it with their dr or gynae. People from many different stages of their journey use this forum hence why I asked. Its an easy enough question to ask.

I don’t get why people are acting as if I’ve asked a stupid question and the people who are being sarcy should take into account that others are struggling with fertility and just be nice.
