BBT rise still only 0.3 almost a week after ovulation? Strange cycle this month. Help?

I've been tracking my cycles (not always bbt) for nearly 2 years. Usually I ovulate day 11 or 12. Oddly this month it was day 17. My opks were all over for a week (also unusual) and I didn't actually see my peak. Usually I get literally a one day surge.

I've attached my chart. Usually my BBT would sit around 36.7 by now? (sometimes it takes a couple of days to increase to that). Obviously I'm nearly a week after that now. Not only that- there have been decreases? So what's going on? Any ideas please?

It looks like this cycle was a possible anovulatory cycle this time around. My current cycle looks JUST like yours, I'm a few more days long and after a few more temps my FF app removed the crosshairs and said it was likely an anovulatory cycle. I didn't do OPKs this time around.

My temps are usually only ever 0.2 -0.4 over cover line after ovulation with maybe 2 days of 0.5 over but I have low progesterone

@Beau20 I don't think I've ever had an anovulatory cycle before? So it's strange. Do you think its the vitex or high level b vits that have done it? They are the only difference.

We actually aren't trying this month. We had a month off (used condoms) and were planning to carry on next month. So its been more relaxed generally.

Apparently it's quite common for even the most fertile women to have an anovulatory cycle once in a while. I don't think the vitamins change anything, I took them for months and haven't been taking them the last 2 months and nothing changed in my temps or cycles

Hi can I join your conversation please.
My temperature chart this month is all over the place and I’m totally confused. Not sure if I ovulated or not. Hoping someone can help me understand my chart

My line was as flat as a pancake last month. Stress can cause an anovulatory cycle, and with everything going on in the world it's not a surprise that cycles everywhere are going haywire. Hopefully as we are now getting more certainty the stress has calmed a bit and your cycle can revert back to normal

I couldn't take mine today as I didn't sleep properly.
I guess stress can do it. But I don't feel stressed my dad died last year and it delayed ovulation by a few days. That's the only time it's happened and I've definitely been more stressed than now many times! I guess its just one of those things.

@Suki2020 hmmm I dunno? One sharp drop can mean pregnancy. But two? No idea! Unless you weren't consistent taking it time wise?

@paintfairy the first dip I think was ovulation on the 16th day and then it dropped again on 25th day as it had risen this morning but I’m so confused. I take my temperature every morning between 7:15-7:30am before I do anything. I’m new at taking my temperature, this is only my second cycle doing it.

@PlanBea has you cycle returned to normal now?

Report
paintfairy · 16/04/2020 18:38

@Suki2020 I meant the 5dpo dip and now the current drop. Having looked again- is your thermometer only to 1 decimal place? In which case it'll always look odd.

@paintfairy, oh sorry. Yeah it is only a one decimal place. I did order a two decimal thermometer yesterday though so hopefully that might help. Just not sure if I’ve even ovulated this month 😬

Morning

Could you look at my charts, I don't know what I doing!

The second picture is the same chart but there is an optimised option. I'm not sure if you should use it or not?

Thanks 😊

@paintfairy this is my chart, I was also a bit concerned it didn’t increase much... but I conceived this month 😊. (I stop temping after confirmation of O as it wasn’t helping my emotional well-being)

@Suki2020 are you taking your temp without moving much? So just placing the thermometer in your mouth from the bedside table drowsy? In my early charting days, I didn’t realise you had to take it before getting out of bed and would take it sitting on the loo 😂

@Milkshake54 I know what you mean. Temping causes me to stress about sleeping and then I don't sleep. So this month I wasn't really bothering. Also we were having a month off anyway. But if I wake and things are right- I've taken it. The tracking and obsessing all did me no good so I'm going to try not to in future. My cycles are usually predictable.

However. Lol. This month I've stil got no clue. Here is my chart. My temp is now higher? I've been bleeding since Monday (I usually spot but sometimes it is more bleeding then spotting, this month its been a bad month). By my reckoning (if I ovulated day 17) I should have had my period by now. So maybe I didn't bloody ovulate then. I usually start spotting around day 22 (in a 26 day cycle) but it can be as early as day 20. Today will be my 7th day bleeding and still no sign of AF. My boobs have been agony all week also. Worse than normal. Most months they do hurt, but not always. So something definitely is happening, I just don't know what. Confused

Have you taken a test to rule it out? Because it does look like you’ve had a shift in temps during the second half of your cycle?

I am struggling so much with taking my BBT. Feel like I slept well last night but no interval of sleep was longer than 2.5 hours and so I missed my longest patch of sleep thinking I'd get more later. This is becoming a daily pattern now and stressing me more than the TWW!

Report
Milkshake54 · 26/04/2020 09:33

@Ltay2 I toss and turn most nights, and sometimes would stir and wake up and check my phone etc. But as long as I didn’t get up, or be awake for ages and struggle or get back to sleep - I’d still take my bbt at 6.30ish. I don’t know if this is right - but it worked for me 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ltay2 · 26/04/2020 09:48

@Milkshake54 I think that's what I will do from now on. It's how I used to do it but I felt I should do it 'properly' to see how it goes and I feel like it's just making me more anxious! Last night I fell straight back to sleep as soon as I'd woken up in the night, sometimes didn't even open my eyes just felt my brain 'come alive'. But in any case I've missed my chance to take my temp today so will try again tomorrow.

Suki2020 · 26/04/2020 10:25

@Milkshake54 yeah I set an alarm to wake me up so that I take it the same time everyday. I do wake up during the night though, sometimes 3/4times I do go back to sleep but occasionally I could be awake for a while. I’ve noticed it a bit more this last month but I’m not normally that bad. But every night I will wake at least twice. This is my bbt chart as of today. I’m so confused by it this month.

@Ltay2 that's how I got. It just stressed me out! To the point that I couldn't sleep during my LP at all because I was waiting for the temp confirmation.

@Milkshake54 we used contraception this month during my fertile window because I didn't want a December baby. Plus the coronavirus madness. So if I am- that would be ridiculous. 😂

@paintfairy Glad it's not just me then. Going to just measure as normal in the morning so long as I've had a good sleep, not going to stress over it being 4+ hours.

@paintfairy I know, as if there's not enough to worry about with the whole TTC process, and the world in journey at the moment for that matter.

I found myself waking up last night and calculating when I next needed to wake up in order for it to have been 4 hours and then if I woke up earlier than that I was so anxious about getting back to sleep. I woke up feeling quite refreshed but now I'm exhausted so it obviously affected my sleep quality.

Ok so I took 2 temps today.

5.10am (after maybe 1 hour solid sleep, 2 hours broken) which was 97.45 F.

7.52am (after 3 hours broken sleep, only 30 minutes or so solid sleep at a time) and that was 98.04 F.

I now don't know which one to use or whether to just discount them both again as neither are after a long solid sleep. Confused
