Vitamins to conceive

Hi all,
I want to start taking some pre pregnancy vitamins (foelic acid & Vitamin D) but have read about them potentially lengthening cycles. My cycles are already long and irregular (last was 48 days) so am just wondering if anybody can shed some light on this or had any success in conceiving after starting supplements?

Thanks x

Well I'm currently 10 days late with BFN after taking pregnacare, my period had been 28 days for 10 years so I stopped taking them last wed after 3 weeks of taking them xx

I was told by the IVF consultant that no one should be taking a multivitamin at all.
She said a B complex and folic acid. Not any other multivitamin, not even special conception ones.

It's a Pity that IVF consultant is giving out old and incorrect information. The latest research shows that both partners should be taking vitamin D to assist with conception.

Folic acid lengthened my irregular 28/30 day cycles to 33 days but they became regular.
After 3 cycles of 33 days I conceived ( I miscarried at 8 weeks)
I also take B12 and iron as I’m a vegetarian.
My partner takes the same, folic acid has made him ‘friskier’

This was about 5 years ago.

Ok, that makes more sense. The major Vitamin D study related to conception came out in 2016.

I was taking the seven seas prenatal vitamins for a month or two before we started TTC. We’ve conceived first cycle both times (I know that’s down to luck rather than the vitamins!). They didn’t impact my cycles at all

I’ve been taking folic acid 400mcg and vitamin D 10 mcg and my cycle remains around 25-26 days as it has been, albeit I only started taking them at the end of December. I haven’t heard anything about these vitamins impacting cycle lengths 🤷‍♀️

Make sure your partners are also taking the supplements...especially vitamin d.

@SofiaAmes I never knew they should be taking them until I read an article a few days ago. Got my husband taking them with me now.

I've been told folic acid and vitamin D is all you need ☺️
