TTC with IUI possible pregnancy?

Hi all

So my fiancee and I have just started trying to conceive via IUI using donor sperm. She will be the one carrying and we had our first cycle of IUI 2 weeks ago today. She’s due AF 07/01 and is usually pretty regular so we did a clearblue early response test yesterday and it came back negative although I swear I could see a VERY faint line.

We went in to the clinic for a blood test today & it’s neither good or bad news. Basically they said her hcg level is at 25 at the minute which means it could be a possible pregnancy but it’s a VERY grey area. We’ve got to go back on Monday for a repeat blood test. They said if she was pregnant they would’ve expected it to be higher at the minute but if she is it will have doubled by Monday.

My partners going mad thinking maybe she is but there’s something wrong as it’s low? I don’t know we are completely new at this. I know she did get cramping and twitching a lot days after the procedure which I thought was a good sign.

We’re just going crazy here! Has anyone else experienced this where hcg has been in this range or dropped off/increased. Would appreciate the input either way Smile thanks!

Anyone? Doesn’t have to be iui related

I'll be honest I don't know much about the levels etc but I did just find this? Not sure if it's any help/reassurance for you Smile.

Although I'm not sure if that's the measurement unit that they will have used, hopefully it's a standard measurement x

Also talking about faint lines, this was my very faint line on a clear blue! I'm 13 weeks now.

Thankyou for your reply and congrats on your pregnancy :) I’m trying not to get too excited as it is our first go and I know nothing about how hcg can change.

At what stage did you take that test? The line I saw was probably even fainter so I think it’s just a case of wishful thinking!

@Raleighx I took the test at 12 days past ovulation. It then took another two days to have a really positive looking test, on the day I was due my period x

Good luck. The wait is the worst!

Over 5 is considered positive I think? Did they offer ovitrelle shots to try to help encourage the pregnancy?

That’s what I read but I’m trying not to get my hopes up as the nurse said it’s lower than it should be at this stage. Guess we are just going to have to wait until Monday to confirm. Yeah she was given a trigger shot.

With my current pregnancy i had blood tests very early on, due to lots of bleeding and previous losses. My first test came back as 19, the dr obviously confirmed it was positive but wasn't hopeful, my next test which was 72 ish hours later due to the weekend was 80 (something) then again 48 hours was around 350 (i think). It was a slow grower. I stopped the tests and started scans at that point.

I am 19+4 and the baby so far is doing well.

So there is hope! Fx

If you have a pink dye test, they are better to test with!

We’ve only got another clearblue so figured we may as well use it. I would be amazed if it happens first time. I can only imagine how draining it is going through this every month.

Well that’s the blood test done. Apparently we get the results between 3-5pm. Extremely nervous! I honestly think it could go either way but apparently she has cramp today so I don’t think it’s looking great. Being in limbo is the worst bit as we have just worried all weekend!

My sister in law had cramp and bleeding first few months. She's no 27 weeks! Fingers crossed for you

Thankyou!

So now I am even more confused than ever. The nurse this morning said that anything over 50 is a definite positive pregnant result. We were told on Friday the hgc levels should have doubled by today..

Got the results and hgc is 65 which is over double! The only thing is the other nurse who called my partner with the results didn’t seem too certain. She said that most pregnancies that start off with a low level don’t tend to be successful. We are in for a scan on the 24th to find out more.

I’m so puzzled though because they have doubled which is exactly what we were hoping for but apparently the nurse seemed like she was trying to prepare us for the worst.

I think it works out that my partner would be around 4 weeks and everything that I read online says it doesn’t matter about the initial low number as long as it’s increasing at a steady rate.

Anyway see what happens at the scan.. this process really plays with your emotions!!
