Best time to try?

Need some advice please!
We have been married just over 2 years now and have our own house. We are 25 and 29.
We both really want a baby now but I am worried if we can afford a baby?
We both work full time and could afford a drop in pay but wouldn't be much left over.
Should we go with our hearts or save up for another 2 or so years?
Is there ever a right time when you can really afford a baby?

There is never a perfect time in my opinion, however, having savings, being financially secure and having savings for emergencies will always make things easier. There’s plenty of people who don’t have that luxury to fall back on and still made it work though.

Personally, I've made sure I had enough savings to cover my drop in pay plus a bit extra for emergencies (like if the washing machine breaks or my car needs new tyres while I'm on mat leave) and childcare for the first month back to work. It makes it easier to not have to worry about money.

Have you considered childcare for when you go back to work? Is it affordable as this seems to be one of the big things that takes new parents by surprise, it's easy £900 a month where I live and more in some places.

You're still young and there's no rush, even a years saving could make it so much easier for you.
