Anyone testing just before Christmas?

(361 Posts)
iswhois Thu 28-Nov-19 16:15:29

Quite upset as the smileys don't have their Santa hats on yet.

AF arrived 2 days ago so I will probably be testing around 21st December (cycles are about 24 days)

Anyone else???

handbaglover93 Thu 28-Nov-19 16:40:28

I will be testing Christmas Eve! Fingers crossed for you x

ceebee21 Thu 28-Nov-19 16:47:08

Me too, my cycles are 25 days and I’m CD 2 atm xx

iswhois Thu 28-Nov-19 17:24:48

Fingers crossed for you both! AF has come early the past few months so I haven't even been able to make it to testing day, just accepted that I have shorter cycles now for whatever reason so adjusted timings accordingly.

ceebee21 Thu 28-Nov-19 17:26:47

Do you know how long your LP is? Time between OV and AF, apparently taking certain vitamins can help to lengthen it xx

iswhois Thu 28-Nov-19 17:40:01

I'm thinking it's 10 days, so really at the limit of how short it can be. Thank you I will look into that

Going to use OPKs this month to try and get a better estimate.

crazychemist Thu 28-Nov-19 17:54:22

Yep, probably testing at Christmas, although I hadn’t realised that would be the case. I have slightly irregular cycles, but I monitor them so although I’m not sure exactly when I’d be due to test it’s probably going to be pretty close to Christmas Day.

@iswhois, my LP is much shorter than that, rarely make it to 8dpo, usually around 5 or 6 (so I’ve been trying for a while with no luck!). Have tried various things to adjust cycle. I take Agnus Castus until I ovulate (it can help bringing ovulation earlier if you don’t ovulate early enough in your cycle) and I take a B vitamin complex to help lengthen LP. They do seem to be helping, I had a chemical pregnancy this last cycle, but it’s the first time I’ve had an LP long enough to get a BFP.

FWIW, I have one DD already, so an LP less than 10 days doesn’t mean you definitely won’t conceive!

IslayBrigid Thu 28-Nov-19 18:10:36

Hello! I'm also testing end Dec 🤞✨🙌 hopefully. We will start trying next week in lead up to ovulation...

@iswhois have you managed to pinpoint ovulation through temperature charting or opks? I just ask because I've read that the luteal phase, between ovulation and AF, is often at least 12-14 days (though of course shorter ones happen as @crazychemisy says) so it could be you're actually ovulating earlier, rather than having a short luteal phase. Forgive me if you've already figured it all out, but thought it could be useful to know if you didn't! Coz that might mean you're ovulating around days 10-12!

@crazychemist when you conceived DD what did you do? Any tips? I'm basically planning to DTD as much as poss in lead up to ovulation smile

Mooey89 Thu 28-Nov-19 18:12:06

Test day will be 15th ish here so in time for Christmas, or with enough time to dust off and get drunk if not 😂

TunnocksTcake Fri 29-Nov-19 16:24:28

Hello All I will be testing on 20th/21st depending when I ovulate. We are hosting an Xmas party on the 21st so will test before then to be sure if I will be drowning my sorrows or hiding that I'm not drinking hmm
Didn't think that one through did I?!! grin
I'm on Cd10 now and just started with the CB OPKs so waiting for my flashing smileys

itssquidstella Fri 29-Nov-19 22:40:55

I should be ovulating on around December 6th so testing any time from the 20th if AF doesn't arrive before then!

Am thinking of buying some agnus castus, does anyone know how long you should take it for?

ceebee21 Fri 29-Nov-19 23:13:14

AF is due on 22nd for me, I'm thinking of taking a complex b vitamin, need to have a look x

Blondeandbroody Fri 29-Nov-19 23:40:08

It’s hard for me to know for sure when my AF is due. I’ve been on the pill for years, came off it a week and a half ago when I started bleeding - I had semi regular periods whilst on the mini pill (so no breaks). If they were normally then Im due my next AF on 15th December! I’ve been using the Flo app for 3 months when we decided we would start trying at the end of the year so I’ve not got that much data to go off!

This will be my first so I’m very much in the naively hopeful stage!

iswhois Sat 30-Nov-19 02:51:20

I'm gonna give the Luisa Zuissman (think that's correct spelling) vitamin recommendations a go this month. Her blog maybe baby is v interesting

AF has now finished so also going to start OPKs tomorrow to get a better idea of my cycles.

DH doesn't understand the concept of a fertile week, but if I try to explain too much I fear it will ruin our sex life!!!! smilesmile

iswhois Sat 30-Nov-19 02:52:33

And welcome all!!!!! At least if we don't get the results we all want we can have a boozy Xmas!!!!

TunnocksTcake Sat 30-Nov-19 10:31:05

@itssquidstella I think we should be ovulating around the same time!
I also thought about getting Angus cactus but it read too much about it and freaked myself out so didn't in the end! It's so hard to know what to believe. My cycles are actually quite regular so think it might do more harm than good.
I think it's most important to take from cd1 until ov and some people say to stop then, or you have to take it all through first trimester if you need the progesterone support because stopping suddenly can cause drop in progesterone which may make you mc.

FirsttimeTTC Mon 02-Dec-19 00:44:18

Hi ladies! not entirely sure that I’ll be joining you in testing towards the end of December as I had my coil out just over a week ago so not 100% sure on where I am in my cycle.. but if I am right, I will be ovulating on 6th dec and testing on 20th!

Baby dust to all flowers

LosingtheTTCplot Mon 02-Dec-19 18:54:30

I am due on Christmas Day so will be testing then unless I have some serious symptoms! Although I also don’t want to be grumpy on Christmas Day so may hold out until 27th.

Trying just B6 this month to delay ovulation by a few days as ovulating normally CD11 but last cycle was CD7/8 x

TwinkleStars15 Mon 02-Dec-19 18:58:11

I’ll probably be testing Christmas Eve, depending on when I ovulate! Fingers crossed.

NicoleR14 Mon 02-Dec-19 19:08:27

AF arrived 10 days ago will be testing 21st of December so fingers crossed and good luck everyone let's hope December is good to us 😊🤞🏼x

NotJust3SmallWords Mon 02-Dec-19 19:23:57

Hi everyone! I'm CD9 and due to ovulate (apparently!) on 6 December, so I'll be testing on 20 December.

Good luck to you all! smile

xSLPx Tue 03-Dec-19 08:11:26

Hi Ladies,

This is my fist post so sorry if it's a bit wordy! My husband and I started trying in September and I had it in my head that getting pregnant was going to be easy, if people can get pregnant by accident then how hard can it be?! Well we are three months in and frustratingly still not signs of pregnancy. I'm due to test on Christmas Day and my other half things it's lovely because it could be a great Christmas present but i'm worried that a negative result will bring down my Christmas mood.

I've been struggling with the two week waits as it's all I can think about. How do you all cope with the two week wait and what do you do to take you mind off it?

I'm so glad I've found this page because I don't really have that many people to talk to about this because I haven't told many people that we are TTC as I can't cope with the endless questions and raised eyebrows every time I decline a glass of wine!

xx

TunnocksTcake Tue 03-Dec-19 09:14:33

Hi @xSLPx I wish I knew the answer to your question... it is so so difficult, and I have certainly not mastered it yet and I am on my 6th cycle. The best thing to do is keep busy, stay off google and remind yourself that all symptoms in the 2ww will just be down to progesterone so are to be ignored. I try to make sure I have lots of things booked in for those 2 weeks, as well as something to look forward to when my period is due to take the sting out of it.
Good Luck!

I got my peak on CB digi this morning after a spontaneous (and VERY rare!) morning bd so that was excellent timing :D

NicoleR14 Tue 03-Dec-19 09:15:33

@xSLPx I'm right there with you me and my husband are both 20 and ttc our first baby been trying since October i have so many questions but everyone on here is so nice and been there before and happy to help with anything you want to ask, I thought it would be easy but it's been the hardest 2 months and I've read there's women on here been trying for over 6 months to a year they are a lot stronger than me! The tww is terrible! I do a lot of sewing so for the full tww I try to keep as busy as possible cleaning or sewing or just now it's Christmas shopping lol if you think about it too much you stress yourself out and I've been told since the beginning the more you think about it the less likely you are to fall but it's impossible not to think about it my advice is find a hobby that really takes up all your attention! Good luck and I hope you get your positive on Christmas Day it would be such an amazing present!🤞🏼

Ellsbells112 Tue 03-Dec-19 10:19:33

Hey everyone can I join! Ttc #2 cycle 4 here!

@Mooey89 we will know around the same time I'm due on the 16th! Let's hope the witch doesn't visit us!!

I'll be in Australia from the 11th so nice distraction but when I'm due af me and OH will be on a lovely island so I'll be fuming if it comes!! Urgh

Mooey89 Tue 03-Dec-19 10:33:03

I think I recognise you from another thread @ellsbells112, good luck!
I’m not hopefully becUse it’s month 12 for us, but I know I definitely ovulated at least 🤞

xSLPx Tue 03-Dec-19 11:09:54

Hi @TunnocksTcake & @NicoleR14, thanks for your replies. I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with the tww. Sometimes I think I'm just being unrealistic in expecting it to happen so soon but on the other hand I want to stay positive and believe it will happen soon. Thanks for the tips I defo think I'll try and keep busy with plans and hobbies etc, I guess it's easier this month as Christmas prep is a pretty good distraction. Great excuse to over do the Christmas shopping wink

Sounds like perfect timing *@TunnocksTcake*! Fingers crossed for you this month! Xx

zinrepus Tue 03-Dec-19 11:11:18

Heya joining in! DH and I are "casually" trying this month (no LH tests, just sensing with CM) cycle 1 for #1.

AF is due 17 December, but I'll be taking a few flights before Christmas, which has been known to delay my cycle by a week or so...needless to say I'll be quietly testing to try and figure out where we are, but also will be looking to postpone testing as long as possible. Joys.

Blondeandbroody Tue 03-Dec-19 11:23:46

So I caved and tried a further way to know where I’m at in my cycle checking for CM, TTC can get so gross is what I’ve learnt so far haha!! I think I’ve just got sticky CM now which I believe is a sign I’ve ovulated? I had what I can only assume was EWCM a few days ago but didn’t actually test for it then, if you catch my drift (in my underwear, sorry TMI) I’m relieved to know that things are changing and I know that I am actually ovulating after being on the pill for so long. As I understand it I wouldn’t have any or it wouldn’t change if I wasn’t or hadn’t ovulated?! It has changed so that’s reassuring that this first cycle post contraception is a possible contender.

Now for the TWW, it’s excruciating at 1/2dpo! I literally keep looking at my calendar and counting days in the hope that in the last few hours the date I can test has gotten closer, time doesn’t quite work that way though unfortunately HA!

Ellsbells112 Tue 03-Dec-19 11:58:29

@Mooey89 yes I recognise you also 😁 good luck to you too, Ttc is pretty crap x

Goingbacktokansascity Tue 03-Dec-19 12:45:28

Hey want to join in! Due to ovulate probably 12th- 14th, on cycle day 8 currently and all my apps say AF due 24th 😣 might not test until after Christmas though if AF doesnt show up just because I don’t want to deal with the disappointment! Anyone else thinking of holding off testing to enjoy Christmas in optimism?

coley17 Tue 03-Dec-19 13:42:36

Hey girls, can I join in too! Cycle 6 and testing on 22nd..would be the perfect Xmas present but if not at least I can have a few wines on Xmas day 🙈 trying to give myself something to look forward too every month when I'm due AF... TWW are the worst!

xSLPx Tue 03-Dec-19 13:43:12

@Goingbacktokansascity I'm due on the 25th fconfused If AF doesn't arrive then I would like to wait a couple of days so I don't get disappointed over Christmas but I know what I'm like and I don't think I'll be able to wait.

Whyhaveidonethis Tue 03-Dec-19 16:39:58

I'm due on 27th December so will be testing on 24/25th (if I can hold out that long). Holding out no hope whatsoever as its cycle 16, and 3 chemicals in that time. Love to join you though

EC22 Tue 03-Dec-19 18:35:45

Due to ovulate on Friday, DTD last night, husband away now though so slim chance this month but still hopeful.

iswhois Wed 04-Dec-19 00:14:48

Welcome all!! @EC22 we are in a similar situation, DTD last night (about 1am Tuesday morning) apparently due to ovulate on Saturday but my OPKs are getting darker (not as dark as control but darker all the less) so I'm hoping I ovulate sooner.

Had some pretty rough family news today so unlikely to DTD again this week- so just praying my uterus is a good enough environment to keep them going until then!!!!!

We are mental 🤣🤣🤣

iswhois Wed 04-Dec-19 00:17:39

@NicoleR14 I'm due on 21st too!!!!

NicoleR14 Wed 04-Dec-19 09:19:38

@iswhois Yaaaay! Hopefully we both get a BFP! Supposed to be ovulating on 6th/7th! Taking my opk everyday but still getting negatives! But maybe thinking you don't get a positive until day of ovulation not the days working up to it? Not sure how the LH sticks work!

Pwd1 Wed 04-Dec-19 11:15:42

Can I join in? Pretty sure I'm ovulating either today or tomorrow 🤞app says I'm due AF on the 18th and its usually pretty accurate. Absolutely dreading this TWW!

TunnocksTcake Wed 04-Dec-19 11:42:13

@NicoleR14 you usually Ovulate 12 - 36 hours after a positive OPK, most people are around 24 hours I think.

@Pwd1 Me too! I got my positive OPK on CB digi yesterday and I am hoping for a temp rise Tomorrow to confirm O, but sometimes I have a s low rise so not counting on it and will just keep bding until I see it. Had no EWCM though (unless concealed by sperm - EW) so I am a bit sceptical....

NicoleR14 Wed 04-Dec-19 11:43:57

@TunnocksTcake ahh I didn't know that! Thank you 😊!

Pwd1 Wed 04-Dec-19 11:53:31

@TunnocksTcake I got mine today! I've had EWCM for the past 2 days so weve been bding the past couple of days just incase. It could have been concealed, stay positive grin

Ellsbells112 Wed 04-Dec-19 12:27:13

@TunnocksTcake hey! Question, I had a peak ovulation test Sunday and ewcm Saturday and Sunday. Monday no ewcm was dry all day then wet in evening but no ewcm (dtd anyway) lol and Tuesday evening I had some ewcm!! But the ovulation peaked Sunday morning? Why would I have ewcm on Tuesday, do you think I ovulated Tuesday even tho had none Monday? Sorry you just sound like you know about this! Is it possible to have a bit of ewcm after ovulation??

TunnocksTcake Wed 04-Dec-19 13:02:58

@Ellsbells112 hmm I think I read somewhere that your last fertile day is the last day of EWCM but I try not to rely on it too much because as you have seen it can come and go. I would keep bding until it disappears just in case. Without temping it is difficult to know for sure - have you carried on with the OPKs to see if they fade?
If you had pos OPK Sunday PM then Tuesday AM is 36 hours after and sometimes it takes a while for the mucus to get down from your cervix so you may still see some later in the day Tuesday IYSWIM. All sounds positive anyway so I would just keep bding until it goes away!
Good Luck!

Ellsbells112 Wed 04-Dec-19 13:10:24

@TunnocksTcake thanks a lot! I did a clear blue digital had been for 4 days with blank faces prior to the Sunday then the Sunday was a solid smiley. I didn't do anymore as that particular test stays solid smiley for 36 hours I think. We dtd Saturday Sunday and Monday evenings so hopefully it was enough we didn't manage Tuesday evening lol I've bought a thermometer too so will start temping from tomorrow. Do you have a suggestion for an app that records the temps well? Thanks alot for your help smile

debbs77 Wed 04-Dec-19 14:10:31

I'll be testing on the 20th xxx

TunnocksTcake Wed 04-Dec-19 14:12:04

@Ellsbells112 I use CB Digi too! Used to use the cheapies but never really got a clear positive on them, much prefer the CB digis and doing it in the morning!
I use both glow and Fertile friend. No idea why I use both haha, I think FF is best for charting and has lots of useful articles and galleries of other peoples charts!
Be aware that starting mid cycle you probably wont see a shift - you may have already missed it but its good to get used to doing it every day anyway. It can be a faff but its really interesting to look back on. Good luck!

Ellsbells112 Wed 04-Dec-19 14:31:39

@TunnocksTcake yeah I know I'm just going to get used to doing it every morning. Only issue is I'm going Australia for 3 weeks lol I don't know whether I'll keep up with it, maybe I'll start properly when we are back! Thanks a lot I'll download FF

Snowberry4 Wed 04-Dec-19 14:50:48

I'm due AF around boxing day if this isn't our month.
Iv concinced myself that apart from OPK I won't be POAS unless AF hasn't arrived by early new year... ( im holding myself accountable to you all!)
Guess were all going to be in the dreaded 2WW together too. X

NicoleR14 Wed 04-Dec-19 15:48:25

Is this a positive opk?

LosingtheTTCplot Wed 04-Dec-19 16:08:13

@NicoleR14 looks very close! Get BDing!

Snowberry4 Wed 04-Dec-19 16:18:58

I'd day that's a very positive opk @NicoleR14 best of luck!

NicoleR14 Wed 04-Dec-19 16:20:25

Thank yous! 🤞🏼😊

Snowberry4 Wed 04-Dec-19 16:45:49

@Goingbacktokansascity
@xSLPx
@Whyhaveidonethis
Looks like we're all due AF or a BFP a few days apart 🤗 best of luck girlies - would be the best Christmas present ever right?! 🎅🤞

SonjaMorgan Wed 04-Dec-19 22:40:30

Hello, could I please join you? My periods have been all over the place and I am pretty sure I am not ovulating but I would love some company/support.

My poor DH is fed up with me constantly talking about what could be wrong but it is all I can think about. I am using opks this month but waiting for fertility tests in the new year. I have been feeling off in the last week or so and have symptoms similar to when I had an ovarian cyst rupture.

Fingers crossed for everyone smile.

HerondaleDucks Wed 04-Dec-19 22:57:03

Hi all, I would like to join. This is our first month of TTC. I came off the combined pill at the start of November. So we are just seeing what happens.
AF is due 21st December, but I suspect it might not come due to coming off the pill.
Been feeling super weird this week with mild cramps and lower back pain and headaches. So I think I've ovulated but not 100% sure. I think I'm CD12 today.
I'm totally new to this and have no idea what I'm doing.

Blondeandbroody Wed 04-Dec-19 23:20:17

@herondaleducks you’re similar to me I came off the pill on 18th November at the start of a bleed Which I had semi regularly on the mini pill. Have you had your AF since coming off at start of November?

I’m on CD 17 so I am in the TWW, it’s excruciating! Don’t know what’s going to happen because I’ve not had a true AF after coming off the pill so hoping for the best and seeing what happens til AF! X

HerondaleDucks Thu 05-Dec-19 08:23:19

@Blondeandbroody
Yes, I had a 4 day AF from 23rd to 26th Nov. It felt lighter than normal so I suspected it was still a fake AF from the pill.
I have no idea what's going to happen either, I'm trying not to think about it too much as I strongly suspect nothing will happen this month. But fingers crossed for the both of us!

Blondeandbroody Thu 05-Dec-19 08:53:01

@HerondaleDucks yeah I'm trying not to get my hopes up this cycle and just going through the motions best I can. Fingers and toes are crossed though for us both and everybody else hoping for that BFP this month xxx

Pwd1 Thu 05-Dec-19 09:22:09

@HerondaleDucks I came off the combined pill at the end of August and my first 2 AF after were lighter than normal too. They should go back to normal pretty quick though so keep your fingers crossed🤞

debbs77 Thu 05-Dec-19 14:09:38

I peed on an ovulation stick this morning and it was positive. We've been having sex every day this week so fingers crossed it works. It is good to know my body is back to normal working order after our miscarriage xxx

Mystie Thu 05-Dec-19 15:37:28

@Pwd1 I'm due on 18th as well! Hoping Christmas build up will be welcome distraction. Are you planning on drinking during tww?

SonjaMorgan Thu 05-Dec-19 16:37:32

@debbs77 have a good evening ;-).

I have some ewcm! Sorry I know it's TMI but this is the first time I have noticed any in around 2 years. Trying not to get my hopes up but I feel like it is something even though the opk was negative just before lunch time.

debbs77 Thu 05-Dec-19 16:41:25

A good evening and hopefully a good first thing tomorrow morning!

My partner and I are actively trying but without discussing it as 'we need to have sex today!' Kind of thing. Just at it as much as possible!

HerondaleDucks Thu 05-Dec-19 18:01:57

Fingers crossed for you @debbs77 you deserve it!
What does ewcm look like? But great news @SonjaMorgan!

SonjaMorgan Thu 05-Dec-19 18:19:55

@HerondaleDucks everyone says egg whites but I am saying thick snot. There are some lovely pictures out there if you Google it 😂

crazychemist Thu 05-Dec-19 18:37:17

Oh, I’m getting so impatient for ovulation now! No sign of EWCM yet, so I think I’ve still got at least a few days, maybe a week if I ovulate the same as last cycle.

@SonjaMorgan I usually get EWCM a day or 2 before a positive OPK, so fingers crossed! Last cycle I had EWCM cd 11-15, a positive OPK on cd 15&16, and according to temperatures it was cd16 that I actually ovulated. So get busy!

For those that have been ttc a while..... how do you get some spontenaity into it? Tonight will be a “dtd night”. Feels like we’ve totally lost the romance. It’s still fun and all, but in all honesty towards the end it feels like a job to do and I’m sure DH feels under pressure sometimes.

Rhubarbe Thu 05-Dec-19 18:48:49

Can I join? AF due 22nd, due to ovulate today/tomorrow...desperately hoping for as late as possible as OH away tonight. Still flashing on CB advanced OPK so fingers crossed!

Pwd1 Thu 05-Dec-19 21:03:34

@Mystie I'm hoping so too, it's such a busy time so I'm hoping itll make the tww bearable. I think I'll have a few but I wont be drinking a great deal. Maybe 1 or 2 over a weekend unless I have very strong symptoms. Are you planning to? Or avoiding it altogether?

debbs77 Fri 06-Dec-19 09:08:03

I genuinely don't know how so many of you do this waiting every month. Hats on to you all. I'm convinced that every boob tingle means I'm pregnant.

I've definitely ovulated so now.....we wait!

My period is due the 20th December but I'm going to attempt to wait until christmas day to test if it doesn't arrive.....then surprise my partner with the positive test

Pwd1 Fri 06-Dec-19 09:54:06

@debbs77 the tww is awful. I try not to but always seem to find myself symptom spotting.
Fingers crossed for a nice christmas surprise for you and your partner 😁🤞

TunnocksTcake Fri 06-Dec-19 09:55:02

Morning All! I had my temp spike to confirm ovulation today so officially in the 2ww. Doing SMEP so have done our 3 days of sex in a row, day off today then one more go Tomorrow. Exhausting!! Due af on 18th/19th Dec and WILL NOT test early! Had serious symptoms last month and could have sworn I was preggers but nada!
I have been feeling cautious about drinking in the 2ww but I think so long as you don't go crazy its fine, baby doesn't take anything from you until 6 weeks anyway so can't do any harm and it will probably actually relax you. Definitely planning on having a couple at the pub tonight smile

HerondaleDucks Fri 06-Dec-19 10:29:33

I have been thinking about drinking as well. I thought a glass or two of wine at the xmas party tomorrow won't hurt.
I did have a funny thought at the gym yesterday morning whether all the jumping around helped the sperm get to the right places and it made me laugh aloud. So I probably looked like a nutcase 😂

Pwd1 Fri 06-Dec-19 12:15:09

I think as long as it's not excessive and you dont go crazy then it should be fine.
@TunnocksTcake I didnt realise it was 6 weeks, not sure why but I always thought it was sooner than that. Though thinking about it that does make sense actually

Mystie Fri 06-Dec-19 12:53:11

@Pwd1 I'm definitely drinking in the next two weeks! Last month I was so healthy and didn't drink and convinced myself I was pregnant and then felt even worse when I got a BFN. At least this way if it doesn't happen I won't have missed out on all the festive fun! Like @TunnocksTcake said (great name btw) a few drinks won't affect anything and will defo help the time pass by quicker by relaxing and having fun! AF due 18/19 so am defo waiting until at least then before testing. Last month I started tested at 7dpo 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

SonjaMorgan Fri 06-Dec-19 13:24:21

@crazychemist thank you. I am keeping everything crossed.

If I do ovulate I won't be drinking in the two week wait. I am far too hard on myself and if I had a miscarriage (even though I know it wouldn't be related) I would take it badly.

Pwd1 Fri 06-Dec-19 13:43:33

@Mystie I only had one last month i think but i was so ill I couldnt have drunk if I wanted to. If we do get a BFP on the 18th I'm not sure how I'll explain my not drinking over christmas

Loubell19 Fri 06-Dec-19 15:32:48

Hey all hope you dont mind me joining! I'm cycle 1 for baby no 1 had my implant out 2 weeks ago and I'm ovulating today! So will be testing 21st december if I dont give in sooner!

HerondaleDucks Fri 06-Dec-19 17:25:32

Same as me @Loubell19
I'm planning ways to seduce my dh tonight... I don't want to kill the mood and say you have to have sex with me because this is the week to have sex!

Sorry to slightly change the topic, but can anyone advise on a healthy weight loss diet while trying to conceive? I'd like to lose at least a stone, two if possible, as soon as possible

Loubell19 Sat 07-Dec-19 08:33:08

@debbs77 slimming world is the only diet recommended by the royal college of gynaecologists during pregnancy so if actively TTC that's prob best.

debbs77 Sat 07-Dec-19 08:43:49

Thank you xx

TunnocksTcake Sat 07-Dec-19 08:49:16

@debbs77 slimming world is great, I managed to do it from home without going to the groups because I couldn't make any meetings near me so that's an option if you don't want the group support. Also free! grin I was losing 2 lbs a weeks consistently

debbs77 Sat 07-Dec-19 09:08:36

Do you follow a regular slimming world plan? Or one specifically for pregnancy?

IslayBrigid Sat 07-Dec-19 10:21:52

Hey ladies. I'm now on CD 14 and just got what I think is a positive LH test. What do you guys think?? Would you count this as positive? It's the bottom test on the page... Help/advice appreciated!

Blondeandbroody Sat 07-Dec-19 10:32:22

@debbs77 I've been doing SW For a while and it's the only diet I can follow consistently (provided my motivation sticks around for long enough) I fully intend to stay on it whilst pregnant but you just have to tweak the plan. I wanna limit the amount I gain, as I am currently still unhappy with my weight, making good strides tho!

I've been doing slimming world this week first week in a while I've stuck to it after losing 21lbs in summer and I've lost 4lbs. I don't go to group I just know the plan well by now and you can find everything online so never bothered with group x

Blondeandbroody Sat 07-Dec-19 10:36:03

@debbs77 as I understand it you just have 2 healthy extra a and b instead of 1 each or something like that whilst pregnant and obviously cut out anything you can't have whilst pregnant too!
I've created a thread for this specific topic already I'll tag you x

Loubell19 Sat 07-Dec-19 16:20:31

@debbs77 yeah I think you have 2 healthy extra b instead of 1, they've already increased the plan to 2 healthy extra a's for everyone it seems.

@IslayBrigid yep I'd say that's positive but usually higher in the afternoon I bet if you repeated it this afternoon or evening (as long as your wee isn't too dilute) it will be the same or possible even darker- that's what happened with me yesterday, its now starting to fade which I understand means I'm probably ovulating now x

iswhois Sat 07-Dec-19 18:24:50

@IslayBrigid I have been having mine come out EXACTLY like that for a week now, I think some people never get the really strong line.

IslayBrigid Sat 07-Dec-19 20:18:42

Hey @Loubell19 and @iswhois thanks for the replies smile I did in fact do the test again this afternoon and it was much darker so a clear positive. I've not had any EWCM yet this cycle tho and I usually get it on same day as LH positive tests. But I haven't done that many LH tests in past so I'm bit sure 🧐
We BD yesterday but not sure we will be able to today. We are renovating and it's super draining and tiring! Just had a slightly difficult chat with OH as I was like, ok, so are we having sex tonight? And he felt pressured amidst all the house pressure. I've realised yesterday is probably fine if I ovulate tomorrow or Monday....

TunnocksTcake Sun 08-Dec-19 09:07:39

@IslayBrigid yeah yesterday will be fine to cover today or Monday. do you temp?
I never used to get strong positives on those tests, I think I have a short surge and would miss it when I was at work or something. Only time I got one was 11am on a Saturday 🤷🏻‍♀️ I would say yours is definitely pretty close!

IslayBrigid Sun 08-Dec-19 12:52:29

@TunnocksTcake thanks for your message smile we did end up getting between the sheets late last night. Now it looks like I am ovulating today so guess it's covered! Have any of you heard of the Shettles theory for boy/girl? What do you think? I'm guessing it's probably not reliable. But it's an interesting theory.

So I guess I'll be testing on about 21 Dec 🙌 exciting! It's our first month trying so don't want to get my hopes up but definitely exciting... smile

IslayBrigid Sun 08-Dec-19 12:55:36

@TunnocksTcake and yes I ma measuring temp. I have been using the natural cycles app for the last year as contraception (worked super well ) so when we switched to trying it was useful as I have a rough idea of when I do ovulate. But my ovulation fluctuates. Once it was day 13, once it was day 20. It's usually about day 15-17 though. I'm cd 15 today and it thinks I'm ovulating today as I had a dip in temperature, and as I did another lh test this morn and it came back negative so I guess the surge was yesterday. We shall see! Tomorrow also fine smile

How about you? Are you temp charting?

debbs77 Sun 08-Dec-19 13:14:21

I'm convinced we have been successful this month. Will be gobsmacked if I don't get a positive test over christmas!!

TunnocksTcake Sun 08-Dec-19 13:19:03

@IslayBrigid yeah I started temping when we had been ttc for a couple of months, wish I had started earlier. I also have different ov dates each month, somewhere between 15-21! It looks like it was day 17 this month, got my crosshairs this morning which is always satisfying! I think I will be due around 20th/ 21st too! Hoping to stay calmer during this tww 🤞🏻

IslayBrigid Sun 08-Dec-19 16:39:42

@TunnocksTcake yay I hope you get a positive this month! I'm sure charting temp is super helpful. If I hadn't been the last year I would have assumed I ovulate around day 14 and if it had been a month where I ovulated day 19 or 20 the chances are drastically reduced! I love how much we can learn about our bodies through the process of temp charting or monitoring CM. Very interesting!

@debbs77 fingers crossed for you! If you have a good feeling it's a good sign 🙃

IslayBrigid Sun 08-Dec-19 16:42:19

Also this is my first tww so totally not sure how I'll deal with it... I'm kind of ok if it doesn't happen straight away, although I would of course like it to. I feel like as long as I know we did the deed at the right time then that's all we can really do..... So yes I'm looking FWD to confirmation I've ovulated and then I hope I can just relax and sit back to wait it out. I'm still a bit worried I'll ovulate like cd 18 or 19 (even though I had the LH surge yesterday so this is highly unlikely!). Also I guess we can just have sex again tomorrow if I haven't ovulated by then.. 🧐🙈😂

Jessmary94 Sun 08-Dec-19 18:07:33

Ooo can I join!? This is our first month TTC so all very new and exciting. I think I am ovulating today and af due on the 21st so hoping for a bfp just before Xmas but as this is our first month and we are still figuring things out we aren't hopeful. This will be our first 2ww and I'm excited to test already 🤞

Jh2019 Sun 08-Dec-19 21:01:34

Hi there, I'd like to join please! @xSLPx snap, I'm also due AF on Christmas day fsmile

This is cycle 3 for me, trying to stay more relaxed this time but easier said than done! Tracking ovulation with CB digital, predicting it on Thursday if this cycle is similar to previous. Also just bought a thermometer so going to add in BBT tracking. My luteal phase has only been ~10 days the past 2 cycles, so worried it is a bit short, but good to hear that others have not necessarily found that a barrier, thanks @crazychemist

Best of luck to all!
