Fertility tests

Hi my DH and I are looking into getting some fertility tests done just to check everything is ok for piece of mind.

We are thinking CARE in manchester if anyone has been there?

I have been asked to attend between CD 7 and 11. Does anyone know why this is required? I can’t seem to find the answer online and it was my DH who spoke to the clinic not me.

Also has anyone had any experience with the initial fertility tests at a private clinic? From looking online it looks like they only do an ultrasound and an AMS check. I’m pretty sure I’ve ovulating as my bbt is rising.

At the fertility tests (general fertility tests) do they test whether hormones (oestrogen, progesterone, LH, FSH) are the correct amount?

TIA

Hiya,

I just wondered if you had gone ahead with your tests and how you got on? CARE is one of the clinics I have been looking at so your thread has come up when I searched :)

We conceived our DS with CARE in Sheffield. What would you like to know?

Ah great thanks for replying, I guess just how did you find them / how was your experience of them overall would you reccommend? We are just at the stage of fertility testing to see how things are looking, what did you have at this stage? Did you end up going for the Hycosy test as well as the general tests?

They’ve probably asked you to go at that point in your cycle to take a blood test. They usually take another after ovulation to check the change in levels of hormones would indicate that you’ve ovulated.

My partner and I had a fertility test with CARE and the standard package was blood tests and ultrasound for me (just checked ovarian reserve and didn't ask me to attend on a particular day of my cycle) and sperm count for my partner (but not motility). It was fine and gave us piece of mind for that part of things but in terms of the discussion we had with their doctor about the results, it was very oriented towards IVF as a next step rather than being more exploratory in terms of further tests so just be prepared for that perhaps?

Oh, and they didn't check hormone levels, no. (I've since seen a different consultant for recurrent miscarriage and even she hasn't wanted to check progesterone levels but has just prescribed it anyway and recommended a different set of tests.)

@littlegingerone we were slightly different route as the funding came from the military as we are a military family. So had to have lots of prior tests including the hycoscy to qualify for funding. So blood test for FSH LH AMH TSH progesterone estrogen etc were all done before we got to care as well as DH bloods and sperm analysis.

Once we got care they repeated bloods at different days of my cycle and repeated DH bloods and SA. I also had a baseline scan. From there they then agreed a treatment plan.

Overall our experience was really positive. The staff were excellent and caring and explained each step of the way. They were very very good
