Hellooo! so this is my first time posting, so just looking for support and advice I guess Smile. Anyone in the same position as me? Hmm

I had progesterone tests done twice, first result was 13nmol/L and 2nd was 27nmol/L, so I think it shows I'm ovulating? However, my period came a couple of days earlier than expected, so the day I got the bloods done might not have been on the correct day. The OPK's show a second line but sometimes they're not as dark as they should be. My periods are regular but are shorter than they used to be (when I was younger and before the pill) usually between 24-27 days. My luteal phase seem to be about 11/12 days I think.

The one thing that does worry me is my prolactin levels. Again had 2 done, first was 623 mIU/L then 1 month later raised to 903 mIU/L. The only thing my doctor has suggested is keep trying and come back in 2 months to check bloods again! This is worrying as I turn 40 in 4 months and I was told the day I turn 40 we get no help from the NHS after that and he said there might be chance I won't even get referred! Sad
What can I do to help things along? I'm already on 5mg of folic acid (cause of my diabetes) vitamin D & Iron (cause I'm low). Would taking Pregnicare tablets be pointless or anything else?

I've also had the transvaginal US and everything showed as normal/good - follicles seen in both ovaries.

Oh and my partner is currently waiting for his test results with regards to his little swimmers Grin

Phew! Thanks for reading Smile

Extra vitamins can't hurt, unless they make you feel unwell. What is your hba1c like? I don't know about the rest but I'm a fellow type 1, ttc dc3.

Hi @Veryveryverylate

My last Hbc1 was 44mmol (6.2%) I was given the green light by my Diabetes team to start TTC about a year ago - I think back then I managed to get it as low as 39 mmol! And since then I've always had quite good control. We were planning to start TTC just before I got diagnosed with T1 (in Feb 2018), so until I got my levels back under control we had to hold off TTC.

Can't they offer you medication to treat your increased prolactin? Good luck x

Woow 39mmol! That is determination. My one has been around 46 to 49 mmol. I got a Libre in July and I hope I can bring it down some further without extra hypos. The preconception clinic might be able to help with getting a referral. A doctor there in February told me she can write a letter to my gp requesting a referral to fertility clinic. At the time, I said no. The offer took me by suprise and that is when I got 49 mmol and I thought it won't take long! It got high that month as I got a bit ill which sent my sugar crazy high.

Sorry diabetes came at a bad time increasing a challenging time. I have had it more than a decade so it hasn't really changed much for me.

@Rosieposy89 That's what I was hoping for but instead, I was just told to get repeat bloods done in a couple of months! How high do my levels need to go before they start doing something about them?!

@Veryveryverylate Yeah the Libre is great! I've been on it now for about a year, I'm lucky enough to get in on prescription too. In trying to get my levels down for conception I was trying real hard and having a lot of hypos, opps lol. I will be seeing my DNS in a couple of days so I will mention to her about getting a referral. I think with the high prolactin level I'll probably be seeing my endocrinologist sooner than expected too.

Hi @sabtom I would definitely recommend trying to get some medication for your prolactin levels.

Mine measured 1400-1700 and only 4 weeks on cabergoline brought it down to around 100. And I got pregnant immediately. I had been trying for ages and had historically had high levels so should have got it checked sooner.

It could make a real difference!

Thanks for your reply @agteacht Smile I've made an appointment to speak to another Dr in a couple of days because I wasn't happy about just waiting another 2 months to do the prolactin tests again. For my levels to nearly double in the space of 4 weeks, I dread to think what they could be in 8 weeks! However, from my medical records, I see that a referral letter was sent yesterday to a fertility clinic so fingers crossed I get an appointment ASAP.
