Anyone in the same boat? I'm 33 and from next week DH and I will be actively trying for #1. I'm excited, nervous, trying to be chill about it all but also imagining myself with a bump celebrating Xmas this year Grin

I started taking SS 'trying for a baby' supplements 4 weeks ago, not sure if it was their effects or not but this month my cycle was 20 days. Otherwise i'm 27 days always. Anyways, let's see what happens.

Hoping to find some pals in a similar place at the moment on here!

hi @TurquoiseKiss, I'm the same age as you and just started trying for my first baby this month! I'm doing AI with a sperm donor as I'm gay (and single), did my first insemination on Wednesday night. Weird mix of feelings knowing there's a small chance I'm pregnant but no way to tell if I actually am - happy & nervous & excited & a bit obsessed, lol

Interesting that you had a shorter cycle - I've been taking the pregnacare conception tablets for about 3 months and my last 2 cycles have been around 28 days when it's usually at least 31. I did some googling to see if anyone else had noticed this but found lots of women saying the opposite, that it made their cycles longer, so who knows. Probably just a coincidence.

Wishing you & your husband good luck next week!

Good luck goodnightsugarpop! How have the last few days been for you since last Wednesday?

I read exactly the same as you, that pre-conception supplements seemed to make peoples cycles longer rather than shorter. Not only was mine much shorter, the actual no. of days of being on period is longer - still some light flow this morning (day 8) when usually i'm 5 days on and that's it. As a result, our DTD may be put back a few days this week! I don't really stress about much, however the last 3 weeks have been uber stressful in my job, to the point where I physically felt the effects - not sleeping, had a little cry a couple of evenings - and I know stress can affect cycle length, so maybe its nothing to to with the supplements.

Keep me updated on your journey!

Last few days have been good thanks, trying to keep busy & not obsess/symptom spot. Had some weird mild cramps today that made me wonder about implantation cramps but I'm telling myself it's probably just constipation or something Grin

Sorry to hear work is so stressful. Stress often makes my period show up early or late as well. Are you tracking ovulation at all?

Hey goodnightsugarpop - how's everything going? Am I correct in thinking you are approx 10 DPO now??

Re tracking ovulation - I bought a batch of 50 cheap ovulation tests so I've been using those over the last few days. I'm CD14 today but no peak signs - either physically or on the strips (last one I did was yesterday around 3pm). That early, but long period I had this month seems to have thrown things out of sync. I do get quite obvious physical signs of ovulation though most months so it would be hard for me to miss realising which are my fertile days. I use the Glo app but don't really input much data other than when my period comes so I can look back at my cycle lengths easily. I've kept on with those supplements - have about 6 weeks worth left so I'll finish what I bought and then maybe move onto another brand!

Hi
Similar situ for me I’m 29 and we’re going to actively start ttc this month
Not expecting anything to happen for a while (I’m never that lucky!) but I have stocked up on pg tests and opks and trying not to obsess over every change in my cycle at the moment !!

Good luck ladies

Good luck back at ya Harty89 ! Would this be your first?

We can only really try from now until September, then we'll have to shut up shop again until 2020, my sister gets married next summer abroad and timings wouldn't really work out. I haven't bought any pregnancy tests as I think I could hold out and wait until there was no sign of AF before buying one. I'll probably eat my words...

hi @Harty89 welcome! Good luck to you too!

@TurquoiseKiss yes I think I'm 10 DPO. Still going a bit mad with symptom spotting and really trying to wait another week, or at least another 5 days before I do a test. Every time I go to Sainsburys I'm saying to myself don't buy pregnancy tests yet, don't even walk towards that aisle!

Hey ladies, I'm new here. This is my first month of ttc too. I am 8 dpo. I don't think I am having many symptons to speak of. It's hard to tell. This cycle has been my strangest cycle ever. I had five days of horrendous ovulation pain, which I normally dont get. Then after ovulation terrible leg and lower back pain. I went to the doc who told me I have a corpus luteum cyst. I've never had any issues ever during any cycle. Im one of those lucky people who can set their watch by it and now this month, the month I start ttc I get this bugger cyst. Unfortunely I dont think July will be my month, but good luck to you girls.

hi @Bettyblue1 welcome :) That's such shit timing to get a cyst just when you want your ovaries to be in perfect working order! Really frustrating. I hope it all works out for you soon

Hey ladies, best of luck to you all. I am new here too, July is my first proper month of trying for my first baby. Excited but nervous as it's such an uncertain process. I am 31 and have never been pregnant before.

Thankfully I have a regular 27-28 day cycle, so I am hoping that's a good sign of fertility.

Currently on CD13 and DTD on days 10, 11 and today so far. Decided against temping for now, so have just relied on cycle tracking, CM and ovulation pains. Fingers crossed!

Hi all.
I’ve just joined the site as I really wanted to join this thread! I’m 33 and we have just decided to start trying to conceive. A few years later than I would have wanted, but I’ve had 2 surgeries in last 9 months due to fibroids. I came off cerazette about 2 weeks ago and am still waiting for first period so I can start tracking my ovulation. Been on pill since I was 16, so not quite sure what my cycle will be like now. It’s nice to find some people in the same boat 👋🏻

Wearenotyourkind / Bettyblue1 So typical isn't it? When you want to get properly going obstacles get in the way! Those surgeries must have been frustrating to have Wearenotyourkind however wishing you both a smooth path ahead! I was told I had a fibroid 18 months ago, it was detected by accident really when I was sent for a scan as I'd had 2 lots of UTIs in the space of a few weeks. Its never bothered me and the GP wasn't concerned about it, but now I'm wondering if that could be the cause of a sudden, but lengthy, period I had this month.

I have a feeling I've missed the fertile boat for this month. Had some of the familiar jabbing ovary pain late last night, both DH and I too tired to DTD, did it this morning but I've got zero ovulation signs now. Not sure if the signs were there in the latter half of last week, that maybe the fertile window started during the last few days of (extended visit by) AF earlier in the week, and was leading up to peak on Friday night/Saturday morning, in which case Thursday and Friday would have been prime time to DTD. I was really busy with work - and had 2 work related events that meant I was home after he'd fallen asleep on Thursday and Friday anyways - possibly I totally missed ovulation signs as didn't think any would show only a few days after the end of AF. Maybe the ad hoc OPKs I did for whatever reason missed or didn't detect LH surge. Oh well, we'll see what happens!

Does anyone have any websites they find really informative for this type of thing? I stumbled across Countdown To Pregnancy (countdowntopregnancy.com) and its great - embarrassed to say I learned more about my reproductive system through scrolling there at this grand old age, than I ever understood previously! I'm still wrapping my head around the fact there's really only a tiny number of days you can realistically get pregnant.

Welcome ilovecoconutmango keep us updated of how the next couple of weeks go for you!

goodnightsugarpop if you're happy to share I would love to hear about your AI journey up till now. Had you been considering this for a while? How many inseminations do you do within one fertile window?

Wishing everyone a happy Sunday!

@TurquoiseKiss my fibroids caused absolute havoc! Bleeding heavily constantly for months at a time, blood clots the size of my hand, had to keep spare clothes everywhere...work, car. I'm v relieved to have had the surgeries, just disappointed in a way to know feel that time is not in my side.

I too have learnt way more than I ever knew about female cycles! I downloaded the Ovia app yesterday and my friend also recommended Flo. Still waiting for my first post-pill period so I can start properly tracking. It all feels so overwhelming and frustrating at times, doesn't it? I have a GP appt this week to discuss my regular meds and conception/pregnancy.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday Smile

welcome new people, good luck to all of you!

@TurquoiseKiss that's annoying about your ovulation, hopefully dtd this morning might have done the trick anyway!

To answer your question about AI, I've always wanted kids, I realised a while ago that there would probably have to be a sperm donor involved as I only have relationships with women. I expected that at some point I'd talk about kids with a partner but it never really worked out that way. Then last year the broodiness started getting so much more intense lol, and I started worrying about ending up leaving it too late if I waited until I was in a serious relationship. & I just decided to go for it anyway and not worry too much about being single as I've got lots of close friends and family around for support. Found a donor on a website called Pride Angel, spent a few months emailing with him and met up the first time just to chat in a public place (my best friend came along too).

I just did the one insemination this month, on the same day that I got a positive result on my OPK. If it hasn't worked this time I'm going to ask him if we can do 2 in August though, as I'll be off work & I'll have a bit more time.

I had a little emotional wobble this morning - woke up from a really vivid nightmare and had a little stabbing pain in my lower back & belly that felt like period pain, & I started crying cos I don't want my period, I want to be pregnant! Then I kept crying cos I felt alone and scared and kept thinking, what am I doing choosing to be a single parent I must be insane!! Luckily the pain hasn't come back, it was probably just that I slept weirdly or needed the toilet or something lol.... Anyway apart from 10 minutes this morning I'm feeling pretty confident and happy about the whole situation and really glad that I've started trying!

Hi Ladies,

This is my first month TTC after an ectopic pregnancy in December.

Currently 4 days until AF, been cramping on & off for a couple of days so it’s not looking good for me 😞

We’ve been quite relaxed this month but I think I’ll start tracking ovulation next month. Any useful tips / information on this would be appreciated x

@TurquoiseKiss exactly the same - 33, TTC #1 from July. First month at giving this a go and already I'm feeling like I'm going to be obsessed with wanting an answer in the 2WW!! Normally a very chilled person but also equally impatient. Going to have to be really good with my DH - he's obviously very on board with TTC but I don't think he'd like me trying to work our best times etc... he's wanting to be relaxed and enjoy! So do I but I can't help wondering if / when etc!

Report
Wearenotyourkind · 23/07/2019 07:32

@Absa it's so hard for it not to become all consuming and be completely obsessed by it, isn't it? I feel like now we're finally in a position to TTC, I want it to happen right now!

@PrincessConsuela12 I've started using the Ovia app (free) to track my cycle. I bought in bulk some One Step ovulation tests and pregnancy tests from Amazon. These are apparently the same ones supplied to the NHS. I have also started taking the Seven Seas trying for a baby vitamins. FYI they are only £2.99 in Savers for a months supply.

@Wearenotyourkind exactly! Having children is something I've been delaying for years - have always been worried that I'm too selfish for them / enjoy my wonderful life etc. but it's always been in the back of my mind I want a family. DH is keen on having a family and we've decided now is as good a time as any, we're in good circumstances etc and I've had to accept if I want a family then babies are the start! Ha!

So I honestly thought I'd just be a "wait and see" kind of person, chilled and relaxed, if it happens it happens. But from this month all that has gone out the window and I just want it to be immediate!!

Hey I tend to do all my working at the weekend during school holidays so I may be dipping in and out of this thread and it may take a while for me to reply sorry. @TurquoiseKiss, hopefully you didnt miss the boat (so to speak). @goodnightsugarpop I think its completely natural to have a little wobble or two. The tww is emotionally draining, you'r mind is working overtime every minute of every day. I've also downloaded the ovia app, not not sure how accurate it will be this month as some of the data I'm recording could be related to how warm the weather is here in Ireland. (Its not normal). So I'm having some symptons. Boobs are tender but not as tender as they were a few days ago. Big blue vein on right nipple. Nausea around the same time every evening, no vomiting. No cramps to speak of any more. My legs are aching tho and theres wee spider veins on them. Getting nightsweats which is about right for this time of the month. Af due late tomorrow night or Fri morning and it feels like shes gonna arrive. I feel abit heavy in my lower abdomen region so think I may be out. How is everyone else getting on. Any other sympton spotters here to make me feel a little less like a crazy woman who has been reduced to smelling the toilet roll after she wipes to see if her pee smells any different. @Bettyblue1 this is my first month so I'm finding it weird with symptom spotting because some of me feels like it's just my normal pattern before AF arrives - feel a bit "odd" in lower abdo, have had a couple of cramps the other night etc. No change in boobs. But if nausea for a few hours - might have just eaten too much!

But basically do people really get pregnant symptoms this early on (in the 2WW)? I thought I'd be waiting at least 4-6 weeks for any symptoms to start???

@Bettyblue1 I smelt the toilet paper too 😂then realised I'm a crazy person! Must stop updating my husband (sorry can't bring myself to use the abbreviation) on my discharge every day too! 🤣

Report
Bettyblue1 · 23/07/2019 08:47

@Absa I'm putting most of my symptons down to the heat. I have three sons and that are 11, 10 and 9 and I can honestly say I dont remember any symptons before the missed period, sore boobs maybe with the first but that was it. Everybodys different I suppose so maybe some women do get some symptons in tww. Hopefully the ovia app will help in tracking symptons (if any). @Wearenotyourkind, thank you I glad I'm not alone. Lol, I'm sure your DH finds your discharge conversations most riveting!!
