Both positive and negative tests

Hi can anyone help? I tested yesterday and got what i thought was a clear positive result. We decided to wait another day as today is technically when my period is due but i have just tested and now have two negative results! Can anyone reassure me that i am in fact pregnant? i know false positive are more unlikely then false negative...its only 2 weeks pregnant if i am.

First image is the clear blue test i took yesterday which shows pregnant.

second image is the two tests i took today, one was a cheap strip test and second was cheap 'early bird' one. Both the ones today are advised to test once you have missed your period (i technically have not yet as its due today) the clear blue is from 6 days before period due so does that mean its more sensitive??

I would take a digital test.

The clear blue test looks stronger in reality then in the picture.

I have a clear blue fertility monitor, but typical today it seems to have given up the ghost. i have tests for it so can try tomorrow if i can scrounge some batteries.

The first test might have been more sensitive. Did you use fun? The CB was definitely positive. Maybe get another CB test and test again or test again after af due with your cheapies.

fmu not fun 🙄

I wouldn’t. Pink dye tests are much more sensitive - digital tests need more than 4x as much hcg for a positive result so if a dye test is negative, a digital definitely will be

OP, is your period late yet? (If so, you’d technically be 4 weeks pregnant but I get that it’s probably 2 weeks from ovulation!)

Hcg stays in the system even after a loss so it shouldn’t be positive one day and negative the next. What type did you use for the positive?

My only concern is that hcg levels fluctuate in ectopic pregnancy so you need to be watchful for any pelvic / abdominal pain

Sorry, I see the clear blue was the positive (not awake yet). I agree - did you use FMU?

SinkGirl · 02/06/2019 07:24

The pink dye tests are usually more sensitive than the blue dye tests as far as I know.

Not sure what else to suggest OP but I hope it’s the news you want

You count how many weeks you are from the first day of your last period so it’s more likely you would be four or five weeks pregnant

yes it would only be 26 days gestation (short cycles) i will see if i can pick up some more tests today then try again tomorrow.

Hmm the internet says the clear blue test (the positive one) has a high rating from users for accuracy and early detection. it cost several times more then the two pink ones.

Get a first response test as pp suggested, much more sensitive!

both the pink ones were cheap. the stick was a 1.99 one from my local pharmacy, cheapest one they did. the strip was a big pack of online ones i bought along with some ovulation tests. havent been impressed with the strips at all. no luck identifying fertile days etc so i dont trust the strips at all.

Not all tests are created equal and they all detect at different amounts of HCG.

You probably should try and stick to the same brand of test to confirm it.

FIrst response are the best ones but perhaps get a clear blue the same as you had the pos results on. As you are only just about to be late for your period the levels of HGC are still quite low.

Hope this helps

I'm sorry to say that but in my experience Clear Blue often gives false positive results (happened to me). I'd trust the pink ones. Hope I'm wrong!

Just based on the packaging of the two tests. i have taken the clearblue one well within its recommended window of 6 days preperiod. the other two were both to be taken on day of missed period which after some reading is actually tomorrow or tuesday for me. ive taken them too early according to their instructions... i think i will try same brand again.

First response are really good. Not cheap but not as expensive as clear blue and they are pink dye and can early detect

My husband has come down and very sensibly told me to calm down and wait to see if i get a period in the next day or two. I will nip out to boots tomorrow and pick up a first response test and try again on tuesday. Thanks all!

I can see a very faint squinter of a positive on the bottom test in the second picture but the one at the top looks flooded so maybe that's why it's unclear?
