Hello! Am currently ttc #1 cycle 2 so relatively new to this however feeling impatient already! I know this is ridiculous so was just curious as to how long it took those who already have a child/children to conceive? Just for a bit of piece of mind really! Blush

Happened for me and DP on our first cycle. I know that we are incredibly lucky though and understand this is not the case for most people!

Best of luck OP ThanksThanks

Honestly, how long is a piece of string..?

I know people have taken years and people that have taken one attempt.

DC1 first cycle.

DC2 sixth cycle.

Generally anything up to a year is considered 'normal'.

Posted too soon.

But to answer your question 6 months the first time (and I remember how impatient I was like you!) and 2 months the second

9 months (11 cycles) with dc1.
15 months (18 cycles) with dc2.

We went to the gp after a year trying for dc2, and had the first stages of tests which came back clear. Just about to have our first appointment at the infertility clinic when I got pregnant.

It is so so hard to wait but really doesn't mean there is anything to worry about. I think often you just don't hear the stories of people taking a while but still conceiving naturally.

3 pregnancies, each time I fell pregnant in the first month but one pregnancy ended at 13 weeks, so 2 children. Terrified to DTD once we felt our family was complete!

Happened cycle three with first, cycle three again but miscarried and cycle one.
Trouble is this question is like how long is a piece of string.....
Your age, cycle, how often you can try etc etc not to mention stress, environmental factors etc will all have a bearing on it.
I went in third time round with the hoping it doesn't take more than six months attitude, to get pregnant on cycle one was a surprise and we were not as financially ready as if it had taken six months, our own fault really treated ourselves and son to an amazing holiday after miscarriage, thinking we'd have time to save up again.

Try just to carry on with life, obviously stay off the booze but otherwise try not to think about it and for most people it happens within a few cycles

  • I managed accidentally twice.

It takes some people 1 cycle, and others never. And then anything in between.

Exactly 1 year to the day that I stopped taking the pill.

Dc1 21 months
Then 3 months for number 2 but miscarried at 8 weeks
Then 7 months for number 3 (now 8 months old)

6m for dc2 and 19m for dc4. Other 2 were not ttc.

Dc1 was aged 20, dc2 29, dc 3 30 and dc4 39. Age was probably a factor.

How long is a piece of string. It really varies from person to person depending on age, health, alcohol intake, drug use etc. Can easily be well over a year

First was a surprise.

Second we are still TTC over a year later.

DD was conceived in 5 months, currently pregnant with second after trying for 16 months. So it definitely varies!

I’m interested in this too. Having been trying for 5 cycles I’m starting to feel nervous (certainly when everyone around me fell pregnant within the 3 month mark!).
