Ovulation Calculator.... I'm so confused!

Hi all,

Hubby and I have been TTC #1 for over a year now, tests have started although, as expected, a slow process. Some months I'm ok, others I'm batshit crazy! This month seems ok.... for now.

Anyway, since coming off my pill I have had very regular periods, usually 27 but sometimes a 28 or 29 day cycle. I don't use any ovulation tests but track through a Flo app and look for all the usual clues such as that lovely egg white like discharge. I've just found that clear blue have a ovulation calculator on their website, whilst I appreciate these aren't 110% accurate and only a guide but clear blue says ovulation would be Monday, Flo app says Saturday. So I then found the tampax period calculator and that says fertile window is this weekend (which is what Flo says).

I'm a bit confused, why is clear blue a few days later? All this time could we actually be getting the dates wrong by two days!! There have been months that we DTD before, during and after my fertile window, sometimes life just gets in the way so make a conscious effort to go at it when I think I'm fertile.

If you want to know for sure you really need to bbt and use OPKs. Apps work on averages and can be well out. For example I have a 28 day cycle, and this month I ovulated on CD17, an app would say cd14 is most likely.

I agree - we tried for over a year, did ovulation kits (under the advice of a consultant) for two months and on a 28 day cycle I ovulate on day 17-19. Fell pregnant the third month!
I know we were lucky, and not everyone will find the same, but just knowing exactly when I was ovulating made all the difference.
