Anyone experience gush of bright red blood 5 days before their period?

Sorry TMI - I had a brown spot in my underwear and the following day a gush of bright red blood and the next 5 days regular spotting until my period arrived.
Anyone else experience anything like this or have a guess about the random gush of blood 5 days before my period?

I get this a lot, no idea if it’s normal though. I get “spotting” for several days before I a get a steady flow which is definitely
my period. sometimes it includes a gush like you describe or a even a morning of bleeding which i think is my period but then it stops again for maybe 24 hours then spotting again. I count dat one as the day i get sustained bleeding that carries on. It’s very annoying though. when you think this is it... input it on ovia... oh no I was wrong...

Thanks Yorkshiredolls. Are you experiencing any problems with infertility? We’ve been trying to conceive our second child for 2 years and I am wondering if my period issues are the problem.

no problems last time, conceived DD cycle no. 1. just gearing up to start TTC baby number 2 next month so time will tell, but ive had these weird periods even before DD

actually thinking back I was nervous that it might affect my fertility prior to ttc DD and i had an ultrasound 6 months prior to my pregnancy which showed polycystic ovaries. have you been to your GP about it?

Please speak to your gp. Do u ever bleed or spot after Sex? Up to date with smears?

Yes I’ve been to my GP about spotting and clots since trying to conceive 2 yers ago. I had a pap about 2 years ago as well and will be seeing a gynocologist in a couple months and still on the waiting list for an ultrasound. Just wish there wasn’t so much waiting and this could hav been delt with a long time ago

Yes ... I am currently having investigation by the hospital to check there's nothing wrong.

Nothing has come back on tests so far and waiting for scan
