Hello,

Please excuse my possible ignorance! But I am TTC with my husband, due to him working shifts we don't get to have sex as regularly as is probably required so I'm keen to work out my ovulation dates as accurately as possible! My periods are very regular but I always have a lighter bleed for approx. 5 days and then the cramping and heavy bleeding will start. So, to work out my ovulation dates would I put the start of my period as the day when the 'spotting' starts, or when my proper period arrives!?

Any advice appreciated - if response are not clear I will purchase an ovulation kit/speak to my doctor :)

Hi @bellil day one of your period is when you have your first day of proper bleeding, so not the spotting days.

So don't count it from the spotting, the day you start the heavy bleeding is day one. I would advise ovulation tests anyway, you can get cheap ones from amazon Smile

Perfect, thanks so much! That means all what I've been basing on has been wrong! oops!

Will get a kit ASAP.

Thanks again :)

Get a persona monitor, it is expensive mind but several babies later, i can recommend it. it will let you know your exact 3 day window for conception each month. It is sold as a contraceptive device but works either way.
