How do I get my periods back while breastfeeding?

I'm desperate to TTC baby #2, but I'm still breastfeeding my 15month old in the mornings/night and my periods haven't returned yet.

Does anyone have any advice on how to restore fertility without cutting out these feeds please?

Honestly I think you are going to have to cut the feeds down or just go try longer periods without feeding. Could you say miss a day a only express to relieve yourself to try and trick your body. After dd my period cane back after 9 months. I wanted to TTS so did try and space feeds our abit longer to get my periods to come back.
Now have a dd3 and ds 17months and my periods have still not returned and I have put that down to still bf then both and therefore being like a milk cow 😳

It depends if you're willing to put TTC before your breastfeeding relationship with your current DC.

For some people, they return after 2+ years. Mine returned within 7 weeks (I was very miffed), so I can't help from experience

My periods returned when we reduced to one morning feed only..

With DD1 periods came back at about 6 weeks, very annoying, but it was because she slept through the night! With DD2 was about 14 months, DD3 I had to drop to one feed a day when she was 13 months to conceive DS.

In my experience it has been linked to the number/gap between feeds. I know it's not what you want to hear but the most common (although not guaranteed) way of getting your periods back is dropping feeds. Both times mine returned a month or so after I dropped night time bf.

Hmmmm I was hoping for answers like 'take a berocca and have an early night' to be honest. 😂

We had a really rocky start with breastfeeding, and she loves it so much now, that I don't really want to cut down much more. She's already gone from feeding as close to 24/7 as she could manage to only feeding between 6.30pm and 6.30am. I would love her to sleep through the night so going to try and night wean in the next few weeks. She's currently feeding at 6.30pm, 7.30pm, 9.30pm, 11pm, 3.30am and 6.30am. would love to cut the 9.30 and 3.30 feeds - but she's a tyrant.

I'm slightly worried that time isn't on my side with TTC as I'm 36 and had two MCs prior to my PFB. But breastfeeding takes priority at the moment

Thank you for all your kind help and advice.

I’m sure I read on a website (probably Kelly mom, there’s loads of helpful stuff on there about conceiving while breastfeeding) that the average return of periods when breastfeeding is at 18 months. Mine retrurned at 19 months, and were completely regular from then on.
(Still bf DD at 2.5, ttc #2)

You should night wean. A bedtime and morning breastfeed will be plenty at her age.

I night weaned DS when he was 10 months old and my periods came back a few months later.

Decided to hold off night weaning as dd is going through a particularly bad patch of teething. However, fairly sure I ovulated on April Fools Day and had a shadow on an internet cheapie today. So fingers crossed!

I'm in a similar situation. 15 month old and recently decided to ttc. No sign of period but he does feed A LOT. Return to work didn't trigger anything but hoping it happens soon.

Good luck!
