So I’ve 100% had a chemical pregnancy this month and I’m devastated. I had a clear positive but quite faint test 12/13dpo which never got any darker and then AF hit me this morning.
I’ve been ttc 8 months and this is the first time this has happened. Stark white negatives every cycle until this month!
I was wondering what other people’s experiences are with chemicals? Is it just something that happens naturally or will I be prone to this? Is there anything I can do to prevent it? I’m trying to be positive as obviously DH sperm has caught the egg and trying to think that this is a good thing after blank negatives. Any help is greatly appreciated. Feeling so upset/confused.

Sorry that happened, I had a chemical this month too and it sucks. Is it the first one you've had? I know with miscarriages they say that one or two miscarriages doesnt really increase your risk of having another, it's once you've had three that I think the risk goes up. I'm not sure anyone knows whether chemicals "count" towards the three (they of course count as a loss and its totally understandable to be upset even though it was so early).

I had a MC last year and my doctor advised me to take vitamin D, co-enzyme q10 and folic acid. She said after a first miscarriage there's nothing else she'd recommend (except the obvious - don't drink, don't smoke).

Sorry just saw you say this is the first time it's happened. Your chances are good for not having another one in that case x

Thanks @Kinsters yeah I’ve never had a hint of a positive test and was so excited at first but then I took another test and it was faintly positive so I just knew deep down! I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that the next one sticks. I have started taking vitamin d and take folic acid so I’ll look into taking q10 and hopefully that helps as well. Thanks for your message and sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I know this isn’t a miscarriage as AF turned up a day later but I’m still so upset xx

I have had 3 and been under consultant care - both consultants have considered them to be early miscarriages in terms of treatment etc. Be kind to yourself, it's really shit! Thanks

Thanks @thumbellini I’m sorry to hear about your 3 chemicals. I’ve had a bad couple of days but trying to look positive about it that after 8 months of ttc and negative tests, I now know that it can happen so fingers crossed it won’t be too much longer.
