Waiting for ovulation!

Hello!
We are in our first month TTC for baby number one. I have been wearing Ava for a couple of months now to get an idea of my cycles. I am CD17 today. Clear Blue Digital is a flashy smiley face and has been since last Tuesday (CD10). Ava had me at high fertility since Wednesday (CD11) and that ovulation day was yesterday, but today it has changed it to today. As soon as we got our first flashy smiley face we have DTD each day to make sure we hit the right day. I am getting frustrated waiting for ovulation!

How long have you had ovulation tests that have been high/flashy smiley faces before turning to peak/static smiley face? I know everyone is different but I want some idea of how long to expect these flashy smiley faces!
Thank you for your help in advance.

Most months I only have 3-4 days of flashing smileys. Today was day 9. So frustrating. Hope you get yours soon!

BeckyG86 · 05/03/2019 21:56

Thank you, I hope you get yours soon too. It is really frustrating. I keep thinking about the cost too. I know there are cheap tests as well but whilst I am trying to figure out reading them I thought I would stick to the digital ones.

We are DTD once a day at the moment and because it is taking its time to get to ovulation we are tired! The thing now is that we are surely that close to ovulation now that we should just continue with daily now. Next month if I am not pregnant I may just try out the cheap ones then when they start to get darker switch to the digital ones. I know we shouldn’t complain.

Day 10 flashing. Ugh. I have some cheap ones so I’ll be using those for the rest of the cycle until I run out. I’m hoping it just happens lol. I love the digital but they’re £30 a box.

BeckyG86 · 06/03/2019 11:41

Exactly, £30 a time, I am getting really annoyed! I know I shouldn’t but I am!

KristieP2018 · 06/03/2019 13:38

I passed annoyed a few days ago lol. Full on angry just now. It’s like, come on already stupid body!

Explorers10 · 06/03/2019 15:32

@beckyg86 with the Ava do you just wear the watch at night? Wasn’t sure whether you wear it during the day if people guess you are trying to conceive

BeckyG86 · 06/03/2019 16:13

I just want it to come and go now!

Ava you only wear at night, put it on as soon as you go to bed, take it off as soon as you wake up, sync it and put it straight on charge all day

@beckyg86

I see thank you! Would you say it’s worth the money?

seven201 · 06/03/2019 17:32

Some months I have two days of flashing smiley, other times 10! This cycle has been particularly messed up where I didn't get a flashing smile until day 27 and it would still be flashing now at day 48! I've switched to cheapies until period arrives. Don't think I've ovulated yet. Have been having sex ever other day since day 10 Sad! I've bought an Ava but awaiting my period to crack it open!

BeckyG86 · 06/03/2019 18:30

Still got a flashy smiley face! 8 days ago I got excited to see a flashy smiley face for the first time, but now I am just annoyed! I think I will be coming on here bursting with excitement when that smiley face goes static!

We have DTD every day since CD10 (CD18 now), and the best way to describe ourselves is shattered! We said definitely every day until ovulation, it would typically have to be a month when its taking forever to arrive!

With the Ava you can use it part way through your cycle. I started mine last month on CD10. They do say to discard the first four days of results as it has to get to know you, so the sooner you start the better. I love mine, and would recommend it. I didn't want to be peeing on sticks and taking temperatures (so I have been peeing on sticks every day at least once a day since CD7!). The only criticism I have is that I have had a reaction to the strap. I have had it when I have worn the FitBit and have had the same reaction. I put that down to water getting underneath and me not drying underneath the strap properly, but I haven't got water under the Ava so it is something in the material. Ava do advise that you contact them, return it and they will wipe your account (I think refund you the money as well) but I like it too much, and it seems to work for me, so what I have done now is when I wear it I put a tissue underneath the strap (just make sure the device is not blocked by the tissue) and that has worked. I still have a mark where the device is attached to the strap (I have a red circle on my wrist) but the strap marks around my wrist have pretty much gone now.

I have a discount link if anyone is interested. It will save you £20 if you follow the link below and follow the instructions:

This is for the Ava bracelet, sorry I forgot to say what the discount was for!

seven201 · 06/03/2019 18:40

How did you get the referral link from Ava? I haven't been sent one yet but I was hoping maybe hats because I haven't activated my bracelet yet! Interesting to know you can start part way through a cycle. I'm going to wait until period but only because my cycles are normally ok and not super long like my current random and very fucking annoying one!

Come on solid smiley! My husband has finally, after 14 months of ttc, understood the lingo and asks about smiley faces in the morning now Grin

BeckyG86 · 06/03/2019 20:42

I had it emailed to me but I did get it another way too, but I can’t remember how I got it now! The one I pasted above was from an email.

My Husband is getting used to it now, he understands that a flashy smiley face is high fertility and a solid smiley face is peak fertility. He’ll ask if it’s flashy! He was quite up for the daily DTD but we are both now so tired! I know they say every other day is fine but I feel like if we miss a day now then typically we will end up ovulating and then miss it! I feel like we have got this far daily, so if we can keep it up just for this cycle hopefully it will be an exceptional month and we will go to every other day. He is working tonight so he may not get in until the early hours of the morning, so it could be a middle of the night job, or a first thing in the morning job and miss a day!

Grrrr!!!! Just ovulate please!!!!

Hope you get your static smiley face soon!

OH MY GOD! Just took another Clear Blue digital test and finally got a static smiley face! Guess who has just been called out on a job and had just left the house as the result came through- my Husband! He had only been home enough to come with me to walk the dog and then feed the animals! I just called him and told him and he is going to call me when he finishes work no matter what time it is, and will do it in the middle of the night, then again first thing in the morning and again when I get home/before bed providing he is not on call tomorrow night! He works for the electric and once or twice a week he has to do a standby shift, which means he is on call overnight, so has to respond to emergencies and electrical problems, and typically he just for a call as I was doing the test! I did ask if he could DTD quickly before but he couldn’t, and that was before I saw the result!

I am so happy the static smiley face has shown up, but so annoyed now that my Husband is out at work at this crucial time!

That’s great Becky!! You may have a bit of time from the static to when you actually ovulate so there’s hope.

So update...af started today! Still getting flashing smileys. I am soooooo confused. I must’ve ovulated a day or two after my period ended. Calling gp today. I have no clue why I’m still getting flashing smileys now. Should be low fertility.

BeckyG86 · 07/03/2019 07:47

I’m sorry AF has arrived, it’s strange that keep getting flashy smiley faces. A chat with your doctor or nurse is a good idea. You could have ovulated closer to your period.

Ava now says low fertility, but going to give it a couple of days as my static smiley face came at about 9.45pm. My Husband got home at about 11.30pm so by the time we DTD it was midnight (still classed that as DTD last night- I looked at the time after and it was 00.03 so for sake of 3 minutes I classed it as DTD last night rather than this morning.

Kristie, some cycles (about 1 in 12 I think it is - don't quote me!) you just don't ovulate. Or the clearblue just didn't pick it up this cycle. I think the instructions say to stop testing if you have something like 8 days plus of flashing smiley. I doubt a doctor would be much use. Unless you have other concerns about your cycles.

I'm cd 49 today and finally got a positive ovulation stick!!! But... I might be having a scan of my tubes on the 23rd and not meant to have it if there's a chance I'm pregnant. I've had sex anyway as the scan may not happen then and my period may have started a couple of days before then. Really how I don't have to cancel the scan (will do if period hasn't arrived)!

seven201 · 07/03/2019 21:44

Well done on the solid smiley Becky!

KristieP2018 · 08/03/2019 08:10

Yea, I decided to wait about the gp. So far this isn’t as heavy as last month and hardly any cramps so that’s my silver lining. I reallly don’t think I ovulated. Back to bbt this cycle to help out. Hope you are all doing well today!
