Should I even try?

Hello, ladies. Long time lurker, first time poster. I am currently in the midst of getting AF, which is crushing, considering all the times we made love leading up to ovulation this past month, and I thought i had the timing perfect.

I still don't 100% have a sense of when exactly I ovulate, but I suppose many women have that issue. I do have a pretty good handle on when I get the LH surge, per the OPKs. But, I haven't been able to temp consistently enough to learn a pattern. I don't even know if there IS a pattern.

This past month, in February, I got my LH surge on 18/2 (I test in the evenings) Unfortunately during the subsequent 2 weeks, I was hosting relatives, so I was sleeping on the couch for some of those days. Then, I was sick for a few days, so I don't know how accurate my temps were. And, honestly, halfway through my illness, I gave up on the temping, because I just didn't thin I would have an accurate read on the month.

Which brings us to this upcoming month. Based on the dates, I would anticipate to get my LH Surge/OPK+ on 20/3. Herein lies the rub. I won't see DF until the evening of 22/3. We will be making love either way, whether it's BD or not. That said, it would be a bit of a long shot for that to be within the window, right?

Should I just consider March out of the running or do you think there is still a chance?

Why not just chuck it all out of the window for that month and enjoy DTD with your DP? Thats what I did last month & I'm 6 weeks x

@HJWT Oh trust me, I will. I always do. There will be no shortage of enjoying the DTD.

But...if I find out that we missed our window, as the timing is starting to look now, by a few hours, that will be a hard pill to swallow.

You really need to dtd a day or two before ovulation for the best chance of conception. So I would probably give this month up as a bad job, and if you're pleasantly surprised then that's great too! Just don't stress about it because it can take a good few cycles to conceive and life's too short to spend months worrying about when it's going to happen.

Have sex every other day and you won't miss it. Doesn't guarantee conception of course, but does mean you can stop beating yourself up about timings.

Yeah, timing is a bit of a b for us. With his work, we've not been able to get the timing exactly perfect.

A few months ago, he didn't get back in town until the day of ovulation, which by then, either it was too late or just didn't work out. A couple of months after that. We BDed, quite a bit, but he had to leave 3 days before Ovulation, which I knew was going to be hit-or-miss whether his swimmers would survive that long. In the end though, both O and AF were late that month, so it didn't really matter anyway.

This past month, I thought we got our timing pretty good. We BDed a ton before I O-ed and he had to go out of town. We didn't get to the evening before or the day of ovulation, but we did it plenty in the 2-3 days prior. So, I thought we had a real shot last month.

My cycle is so wishy-washy, it's hard to plan a month or two ahead, especially when it pertains to work and a person's livelihood. I really do hope one of these months, we'll get the timing just right, and be able to BD before, during, and after ovulation just to cover all the bases.

Luckily, though, AF has not arrived just yet, so if she could hold out a little bit longer, there may be a chance with the timing.
