TTC after the pill? Ugh!

Hi guys

I’m really new to this and nervous about posting my own thread so please forgive me if I’ve posted in the wrong place!

I came off the pill (cerelle) 41 days ago - 16th January and since then haven’t had AF or withdrawal bleed.

I feel sick every single morning, cramps constantly for a month since coming off, mood swings and worst of all bloated ALL THE TIME and put on over a stone since stopping the pill! (I really don’t have room to do that!)!

Took a preg test this evening and negative.

Please is anyone in the same situation? Feel like I’m going crazy and although my DP is on board he’s more ‘wait and see, stop stressing’!

Hey @AllTheGlitter 😀 all sounds very normal to your body starting to adjust to coming off the pill. I was over 100 days before I had any kind of bleed after stopping the pill, I had bloating, craved food, felt sick etc, but it's your body going back to 'normal' (although there is a chance of falling pregnant immediately without a bleed) x

@AllTheGlitter
Hi!!
I feel the same way at the moment :(! So although I can’t offer you any positive news I can offer support.

I am now 72 days since my last pill and haven’t had anything 😞.

Are you tracking anything (opk’s, temping)? I have done opk’s and temping since the beginning of January. My temperature is all over the place. I had what I thought was a positive opk on Friday - joy! I am eventually ovulating! But I haven’t had a temp increase so now don’t think I actually did ovulate after all😞.

The rollercoaster of ttc after the pill continues...

My husband sounds similar, so chilled about it and there’s me stressing over it.
I wish you all the best, i’m sure something will happen soon! Fingers crossed! Keep us posted 😊!

Im also new to all this, came off cerelle on jan 16th too and nothing except cramps and all sorts of weird new pains, finally had a very short withdrawal bleed/period on feb 20th so exactly 5 weeks after stopping pill, only 3 days long and super light, still getting weird cramps but was a big relief to finally bleed and see my body is working itself out. Starting tracking ovulation next to make sure thats all happening. I think we are all just so different and have to wait, it felt like i waited forever for anything to happen so i know the anxiety of it all, hopefully something happens for you soon

Hi both thanks for your comments! Nice to know there’s people in my shoes! It’s so irritating that I spent the last 10 years of my life trying not to get pregnant and now I’m trying it’s really time consuming and stressful - to be honest I thought it would be a breeze! I’m just praying for a bleed now to hopefully get back to normal. Please keep me updated both, good luck! Smile

Sorry @TTc2019BabyNo1 forgot to mention! I haven’t been doing OPKs or temping as I don’t want to go down that hole just yet. Once I’ve had a period i’ll definitely be using OPKs

I literally could have written that! I feel exactly the same. On the pill for 13 years, the whole time being so worried that if I missed one pill I could get pregnant and now i’m desperate to be and my body is not having any of it!
I wish they made it more clear what the pill does and what affect it has! I’m worried it’s masked other problems which the doctors won’t test for until 6 months of no period :(!

Hang in there, hopefully we’ll get some sign of a period soon! Good luck!! X

Hi there,

I came off cerazette on the 16th Feb ...no withdrawal bleed which is funny as normally if I'm late taking the pill I bleed straight away...have been using opks as I have no idea when or if I ovulate and have also being dtd everyday since the 21st Feb just in case !

Was hoping it wouldn't take too long to get pregnant but don't even know if I'm ovulating all very frustrating...have been getting mild cramps the last 2 days but still no bleeding

@TTc2019BabyNo1 I know, it’s so disheartening. I feel like there’s something wrong with me! I’m sure we will be fine though just got to power through! :(

@allrainbows you came off the same pill as me! A month later than me so hopefully you go straight back to a regular cycle! I was the worst around 2 weeks after coming off, I was absolutely vile, was convinced my period was coming as had cramps that would stop me in my tracks but absolutely nothing. Have had 2 little cases of spotting but haven’t even had that for at least 3 weeks now!

Hi!

I came off Norgeston beginning of Jan and I still haven't had a withdrawal bleed or AF so i am in the same boat. I haven't actually had AF since the middle of December before I came off the pill. I felt really unwell for a few weeks afterwards but I am starting to feel quite normal. Starting to get minor symptoms that I normally get with my period so fingers crossed. I know it sounds weird hoping for AF when TTC but for the purposes of tracking would be helpful to know when it's coming

Hey! I’m in the same position too. I took my last pill (Cerelle) on New Year’s Day and had a withdrawal bleed on the 18th of January but have had nothing since. Leading up to it I had all the usual symptoms of cramp, mood swings, sore nipples so I was hopeful I’d fall back in to a “normal” cycle straight after. I tried the Clearblue digital OPK and got 10 days of high chance but never a peak so I stopped testing before I went crazy. FRER came back BFN at the weekend after a couple of weeks of nausea every day so I’m guessing it’s now just accepting the (hopefully not too long) wait for AF to show up. I know in the grand scheme of things it’s not been long but like you all I’ve spent so long trying not to get pregnant that I thought it would be easy and definitely not as stressful as this!

My midwife told me that people coming off the pill tend to get pregnant immediately or take several months. I was in the former camp - didn't have a period at all, bfp seven weeks after stopping contraception.

Hi all thanks for sharing! Seems we are all in the same boat!

@reagansomerset that sounds positive! I’m 6 weeks off and did a preg test this morning so not sure i’ll be as lucky but glad to hear some good stories amidst all the negatives!

@hikari92 it’s terrible isn’t it! I’m feeling pretty okay right now and just accepting the inevitable wait (also trying to get out of (small) debt so hopefully will be able to clear that before the BFP this rate haha)!

@teajenny89 that’s the same pill as me! All the horror stories I’ve heard are mainly that pill, seems to be the worst one! :( keep me updated! Hope it all goes positive for you soon!

@AllTheGlitter

You never know. I tested once a week every week from 5 weeks after stopping, got negatives week 5 and 6 and the week 7 positive was very faint. Clear blue digital even said not pregnant but I could see something on the standard one (DP said he couldn't see anything!) Tested three days later and got a clear positive.

@ReaganSomerset that’s really good news! Congratulations on your BFP, thanks for giving us hope! Can I ask - did you have any symptoms of anything? Did you have an idea you might be pregnant?

@AllTheGlitter

I've got her now, she's nine months old already! Time flies. She is wonderful. Smile

@TTc2019BabyNo1

I didn't really have any symptoms, but wasn't really looking for them. I'd read so many stories about it taking months and months to even start ovulating again, so I really didn't expect to be pregnant so soon! Apparently it's fairly common though. I did think I'd had the EWCM and had intentionally DTD at that time (we were doing it every other day anyway) Looking back, I think I had a teeny tiny spot of implantation bleeding, but at the time I just shrugged it off.

@ReaganSomerset
Thank you, that’s really interesting. I have had some EWCM which I never had whilst on the pill so had never seen it before (was so happy when I saw it!), and had a few pains in various places but the thing that is worrying is that everyone seems to get sore boobs, either when pregnant or when AF is coming and I have not had even a hint of a sore boob!! Which is leading me to think there is something wrong. It’s now day 75 and counting... 🙄

I don't remember ever having sore boobs if that helps? Hormones affect us all differently.

Good luck with your journeys, both of you.
