How many children when you're over 30?

If you started over age 30, did you have loads of children?

Just an idle wonder... I'd love to have loads but cant cope with the idea of spending most of my 30s preg and most of my 40s with young ones so I guess I've left i too late. Oh well...

My first was born when I was 29, my second when I was 31 and my third when I was 33. I would have liked more but it isn't because of my age that we are not having any more. BTW Having children never goes to plan...

All 4 of mine were born when I was over 30....I'm now 41 and find myself still able to cope with and enjoy young ones. Age is a question of mind over matter - if you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Had all of mine over 30.

First was one month before I turned 34, 2nd I was 36 1/2, 3rd was 3 weeks before I was 40. Enjoyed it all and always had plenty of energy.

2 and a bit (so far)

At 35 I had dd1 &dd2.
Am currently bump growing aged 38 (but I'll be 39 by the time I give birth.

We'd like 4 but dh lives in fear of 5 children and since we had twins the first time I don't think he'll be up for another after this babe (I'm quite sad about this really but I'm sure I'll start a thread after this baby is born and I have to face the reality of no more knee biters!)

For us, getting our head in order with regard to what would happen if we had a child with an age related disability was key.

Didn't really consider it the first time for some reason but the second time round when it might affect dd's lives too we did have to think about it.

You're never too old till your body tells you to bog off. Go for it!

I didn't even consider the idea before 30, had first at 32, would have liked 4 but at the time is just not a good idea, not because I'm in my 30s but because of a multitude of other unrelated reasons.

But as somebody has already said... having children never goes to plan. So who knows, I may end up with triplets if I convince myself to get pregnant at 58

Had all my three when I was over 30. I was definitely not ready to settle down any earlier. Only downside is I worry I will be the oldest mum in the playground by the time they finish primary school!

er...that's it
not sure i'll be having loads, always used to think i'd want 3 or 4 but now i've seen how much hard work's involved i may settle for just 1 more! i like the idea of a huge family, justt don't think i could cope with the reality
my mum had 4 starting at 30, i was born when she was 38

And I'd like to have another one before I'm 40. I conceive very easily which was lucky. But it can be hard work having them this fast but the rewards are worth it. They are a tremendous team and they'll all be at school by my 40th year - unless I do have another, but hey-ho, 40 isn't old like it was when our grandmothers were having children.

Tell me about it, I must have looked particulary rough that day, came home to dh for some reassurance! He found it highly amusing as did my mum, who looks like a grandma! I had ds three weeks before my 40th birthday, so I suppose I could have been his grandmother!

currently pg with ds2 and am now 36

unlikely to have more becasue the gap i would need for may sanity's sake would mean i'd be over 40. not impossible, but not perfect...
