Light periods still after 18months off the pill and TTC

Hi all,
I'm feeling incredibly low currently. Have been off the pill for 18 months now and my periods are incredibly regular -every 28days- but tend to only be 1.5-2 days of fresh red blood followed by about four days of brown. We have been TTCing during this time and CB has confirmed ovulation is happening.

I have to be honest, during this time there has been a few months where we haven't actively tried as such (opk days etc) but still feeling disheartened. I have also suffered from stress and depression for about six months in the middle owing to work. Are my light periods a problem? I read about Vitamin B complex. I'm not taking any vitamins at all at the moment now. My DH believes it will happen when I'm feeling good and all in good time. It has been a trying time and prob not the best to try but we really want a family.

Any help much appreciated Smile

My periods were like that when I came off the pill. I asked the nurse about it in passing when I went for a smear and she said nothing to worry about as long as they were regular.

We started trying to conceive after I had been off the pill for about 18 months and got lucky about 3 months in. I know it's hard but I would really try not to worry about it especially if you know you're ovulating and give it a little more time. I took folic acid and vitamin d and my husband took the Wellman tablets, don't know if that made any difference! Also the month it caught was not when I thought it would be from the opks either! Bodies are unpredictable things.

Good luck!

Ps it might be worth getting your iron checked just in case though as anaemia can make your periods light. But the nurse said v common for them to lighter after taking the pill anyway.

Thank you so much! I am anaemic and not currently taking any iron. My DH always tells me off when I go through phases like that! It is so good to hear someone else was the same. Thank you.

My periods had become extremely light, literally 24-36 hours of bleeding and a day or 2 of brown gunk

I was convinced I was having an early menopause (I was 33 at the time) or that my uterine lining was shot to pieces but I'm now 34 weeks pregnant Smile

My sister also has extremely light periods where she only needs a pantyliner and she got pregnant first month trying so I don't think light periods are the fertility death sentence that I feared they were!

I would definitely try taking iron if you're anaemic though

Thanks Polka. How long did it take you to conceive? I'm 30 and I'm worrying about menopause too! I realise all this stress and worry really does not help!

@Sshsecretenclosed It took us 12 cycles of actively TTC (OPKs, BBT, vitamins etc) but absolutely nothing happened until I had a HSG to flush through my tubes and boom so I think I may have had a blockage rather than an issue relating to my light periods
