How can you get pregnant on the pill? and how come it's so hard off the pill?

Hellooo
First time posting on this site and using it tbh.
Please can someone help me, I've been looking all over the internet trying to make sense of this but am having no luck.

If taking birth control pills prevents you from ovulating while on them, and the bleed you have during the 7 day break isn't actually a period. Then how on earth do people get pregnant after missing pills? I understand that apparently its within the first 2 weeks after the 7 day break that you are most at risk of getting pregnant? and if you miss pills after the 7 day break you can (apparently?) begin ovulating.

But if this is true then how come it can take months upon months to start ovulating after stopping the pill? I'm so confused.. I know you need to wait until your first actual period before you'll start ovulating (right?) but if the ''period'' on the pill isn't even a period at all yet is enough to prompt immediate ovulation. Why doesn't your body just get up to speed and go back to normal and start ovulating quickly? or even better why don't you ovulate in the days after your final 7 day break before stopping the pill?

I am so confused, and also I am TTC. I just stopped the pill last month so it hasn't been long and the ovulation tests I've been doing say I'm not ovulating. I also missed up to 3 days in a row of pills frequently, many times after the 7 day break and didn't get pregnant. It was mostly me forgetting to take them but I think eventually it became a more intentional thing as I began ready to get pregnant.

I've worried many times that the fact I never got pregnant when missing pills, and the fact I had unprotected sex a few times before even starting the pill means I may actually be infertile.
I used to have more frequent discharge but as I've aged it's more or less stopped...
I'm only 22 and have been on the pill since 14 ( my mother insisted I start taking the pill as soon as I got my first boyfriend because she didn't want to risk me getting pregnant when I did eventually become sexually active)

I'm so very confused... if taking the pill and missing some will allow you to ovulate, then should I restart the pill and just miss them for a week after each 7 day break until I get pregnant? seeing as I'll be ovulating for sure on the pill when missing them. Unlike now where I'm not ovulating at all...

So many questions running through my mind :( sorry if my post seems a bit hectic. I'm just so eager to have a child.
I'm already taking folic acid, B12, vitamin D and Calcium ( I'm lactose intolerant so figured I need to make up for the lack in calcium) I also have started exercising and doing yoga daily for the last few months.

So many people my age that I know are having babies and a lot of them got pregnant accidentally between 16-18 some even have more than one kid. I just don't see how it was so easy for them and not for me. What's wrong with me? :(

Thanks for your help :)

I got pregnant at 21 on cycle 2 after coming off the pill. I've got three dc altogether and have missed pills many times but never got pregnant. It does happen to some people but if you don't get pregnant after missing pills it really doesn't mean that you are infertile.

Also if you want to get pregnant then stay off the pill completely because it stops the lining in the uterus building up so even if you did ovulate implantation would be hindered. It doesn't sound like anything is wrong with you at all.

You haven't given yourself a good chance at getting pregnant yet don't worry! Xx took a few cycles to get the pill out the system and then boom pregnant! A lot of people don't get pregnant by missing pills a few do but you hear more about the ones that do xxx

Oh good, that makes me feel a lot better thank you. I'm just too eager I think lol
How do ovulation strip tests even work exactly? I'm not sure if I understand fully.
I know one dark line means negative. Two dark lines, similar or exactly the same in darkness means positive. What about one dark line and one faint line? I know that is also a negative result but what is the difference between a one line negative and a two line negative?

I've been having one faint line and one dark line every time I test, which has only been for a few days and sometimes a couple times a day to make sure.

Does this mean I'm in the process of almost ovulating?
Like I said I'm not sure I really understand how it works.

I've tried to make sense of it by looking at the reviews of where I bought the strips and googling it but I'm still a bit confused..
I'm new to all this.
Just want to make sure I'm doing things correctly.

I usually get a faint line leading up to ovulation then it gradually gets darker every time I test until it becomes as dark or near enough as dark as the dark line. Keep testing twice a day as it gives you a better chance of catching your LH surge, I test first thing in morning and then when I get in from work in the evening.

Thanks everyone :) It's ok, I was worrying about nothing! got two definitely dark lines today - tested twice :)
But now I know I'm physically ready I've started to question if I'm 100% emotionally ready yet lol
It's a lot to think about, just wasn't expecting it yet!
