Higher Fertility after miscarriage

I keep seeing that you’re supposedly more fertile after a miscarriage.

Does anyone know the science behind it? I’ve tried googling but none of the results explain why or if it’s even a scientific fact.

Thanks

I think it's believed to be the hormones and how they relate to fertility but I understand that there's no scientific proof to back it up. Could also be that people who have suffered a miscarriage become obsessed and therefore monitor everything to boost their chances.

No idea re the science behind it all.

Just know that for me, personally, it wasn't true at all!

After finding out the bad news at our 12 week scan, it was a very long 15 months of TTC.

Am now into the 3rd trimester and hoping all goes well!

Not been true for me either I'm afraid. My MC was 6 months ago & still no BFP

Yes I have heard this too.
I have had multiple miscarriages and it took me up to 2 years to conceive after one, and had no period before conceiving after another, there was usually a very very long gap for me.

After hearing it, it made me really annoyed because I was desperate and clung to any hope and this crap gave me false hope. People do say a whole pile of shite probably because they don't actually know what to say.

I think it might be based on this study: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-38144027

But I've seen a critique of that study (which I now can't find) saying that it may just be that women who get pregnant again quickly are generally healthier, and they didn't control for that.

I heard a lot of this too. I had a mc in April and am now nearly 6 weeks pregnant so it was true for me. Hoping this little one sticks around

I had a miscarriage in Dec.

Now 6 weeks pregnant so wouldn't say it's true for me. I obviously really hoped we would fall straight after - We continued trying again as soon as bleeding stopped.

Still took another 4-5 months.

It seemed to be true for me. Took us a year to first conceive. We lost that bub at 8weeks and caught again on the third cycle. I'm now 11 weeks pregnant. 🤞🏻 but I know a lot of ladies haven't. So good luck. Keep going. It will happen. Xx
