Missing Coil

So I went for a routine Smear and the nurse couldn't see my coil, neither could a DR and they have referred me for an ultrasound which is on monday. I know my coil was previously there as I could feel the threads. I'm unsure of my cycle length as I've not really paid much attention due to having had the coil in since having my last child 4.5 years ago with no problems.

Anyhoo I had a period just before my smear 1- 4th April. Dr has given me the minipill to take but because I've had (unprotected) sex quite a few times she said to wait until my next period.

Yesterday I felt really pukey but not ill, my boobs feel heavy and i've got some minor crampy stretching type pains, which originally I put down to usual monthly things then i realised I feel ridiculously tired and I have a horrific metally taste in my mouth.

Ive done a first response early test but I have no idea when my period is due I know the last time we dtd was last wednesday.

Just wondering if anyone can offer any advise, do I just keep testing, would my ultrasound for my coil which is on monday pick anything up or am I just over thinking everything.

Mine went AWOL but was found on ultrasound/xray. It did eventually need removing under general anaesthetic as the threads could not be reached through the cervix

If its there but the threads have disappeared, is it still effective? The Dr didn't really seem sure, just advised to wait for period or do a test 2 weeks after we last dtd.

Mine was as it was left in position for several years before finally being removed when it expired. My strings went missing shortly after insertion but as the scans showed it was in place it was just left as it was

Mine was the mirena coil and as I had no bleeding I was fairly sure it was still there are working as it should
