How faint is too faint..?

Hi,
Would love any advice on when doing an early pregnancy test (I know, I know, why can't I just wait!!) how faint is too faint of a second line? Is it likely to be just an evaporation line? Thanks ladies. Xx

It's not so much how light the line is, as how long it took to appear. I'm as iimpatient as you are. After three minutes, I'll spend a minute inspecting (unless it's obvious and doesn't need inspection), then but it in the outside bin where I can't obsess over it. Anything after 5 mins will likely be an evap line x

Thanks so much for your reply. Do you know what I don't even know at what point I noticed the second line. I'm sure it is just an evaporation line but I can't help but get my hopes up and be stupidly optimistic! Blush xx

What's the brand @LG88? If it's clear blue - bit iffy. If it's FRER I'd be confident. Either way, if you do another tomorrow morning and you get something then I'd say it's a go! Do you know how many days post ovulation you are?

@spugzbunny I'm around 10DPO I guess. No not a clear blue, it was a cheapy asda test. I am scared to take another test because I am scared it will be BFN! It was a super faint pink line but definitely something there. Xx

If it's a pink dye test then it's more likely to be a real positive. Clear blues (or any blue dye) are notorious for dye runs or evaps.

10DPO is very early so I'd expect the line to be faint. I got my bro at 9DPO but I was literally stood under the window squinting at this ridiculous line. At 10 DPO I posted another test on a forum and most people said they couldn't see it or didn't think it had colour. At 11DPO it was clearer and by 12 it was definitely there!

If it's faintly pink then that's an even better sign. An evap line would be grey.

Good luck and let us know if you do another! Post a pic if you can!

Will do, I will see if I can post pic on my computer in a while. Its definitely not a grey line, I'm pretty sure it's faint pink. Thank you so much replying. You have made me feel a little more sane!! Very happy for you that you got the result you wanted. Such a difficult wait! Xx

I got a false positive on more than one FRERs but I'm not pregnant, wait a few more days and try again, good luck xxx

OK thank you for the advice. It's so confusing. I thought that you couldn't get a false positive? Confused

@raraa I’ve had a false positive on an FRER too.
@LG88 I didn’t get any lines at all evap or otherwise on asda tests just BFN so I’d say if you’ve got a faint line on there it’s positive!

Thanks @DreamsTonite. There is definitely a line but it is very very faint. I just wonder if it is just because I looked at it longer after the result than I should have. Confused

I've had wither a false positive, or an early miscarriage (I suspect the latter, by body seems to have a dramatic reaction to pregnancy right from the off). Test day 1 was possibly my imagination, day 2, almost sure something there, day 3 definitely something there, day 4, no darker, day 5 same as day 2, then day 6 and 7, nothing. I'm prone to miscarriage though, so lease don't let that bog you down. (If that latest one was a miscarriage, that makes it number 6 for me).
Due in August with DC2, so there's a silver lining Smile

Test again when you get up, and see what it throws up Flowers

Oh my gosh @PeapodBurgundy I can't imagine what that must have been like for you. So pleased to hear that you got the result that you deserved in the end though. I haven't tested today just because I know it is still to early and I don't want to confuse myself even more. I did stupidly look again at the test from yesterday and I can see the line more clearly this morning, I'm 99% sure that it is pink but think that as it has been sat a while I assume it's more likely to be an evaporation line. Sad xx

@spugzbunny finally managed to attach a picture. Do you think I am going mad? The line actually got darker than this so do you think it is more likely an evaporation line? Xx

I see it. Looks pink to me too.

I'm 10DPO today and have spent the morning squinting at faint lines also.

Fingers crossed for both of us xx

Thanks @LauraO1905.
That was pretty much where I was on Sunday I think. Its so frustrating isn't it. I took the test in the hope that it would set my mind at rest one way or the other and I ended up feeling more confused.
Fingers crossed for you too, when do you plan to test again? Let me know how you get on. Xx

I have about 40 cheapy tests so I'll probably test every day Blush

When/if it gets darker I'll use a FRER to be sure.

Is this your first?

@LauraO1905 Yep this would be my first, it's all very new to me. Is it your first too?
I promised myself I would be really calm about it all but that went out of the window after the first month!! Xx

No this is #3 for me!!

We TTC DD1 for around 10 months but my body took some adjusting after being on the pill for around 12 years. Then DD2 was a total surprise!

Good luck, I know it's hard to resist staring at the lines, and I'm not one to talk as I do it all the time!

Wow @LauraO1905, number 3, how exciting. I was a little worried about the effects of having been on the pill for around 10 years. It's so strange having spent so long trying not to get pregnant to now wanting to so much. I have become a terrible symptom spotter. Xx
