Hi girls,

Basically, I don't/can't check BBT reliably because;

#1 - I work shifts and my client wakes during the night
#2 - I breathe through my mouth more often than not and (stupidly) didn't realise this would affect BBT (when taken in mouth)
#3 - DP doesn't like me doing all these "controlled" things and gets annoyed 😂

So I was just wondering if any of you do go by your RHR? Mine seems to have a very clear pattern each month (rise and falls).
And just wanted to know what people's thoughts on this are!😊

Hi there, I got a Fitbit for Christmas and have just started ttc. I'm interested in whether the RHR shows any kind of pattern during my cycle around ovulation and whether it can pick up any potential BFP early on.

So far my RHR dropped a lot when AF arrived and then has gone up and down a bit in the two weeks since AF but no clear peak even though I think I ovulated yesterday; it was higher yesterday and dropped today but was also that high then dropped a week ago, so no idea what's going on! I've got no previous months to compare it to so will just have to watch and wait.

Much easier that taking your temperature every day Smile

Here's mine for this month. I only got it after Christmas, think that first high temperature is me figuring out how to use it. Ovulation was around the time of that dip and af hasn't turned up yet. I have read that rhr stays high if you conceive.

@winterwarmers so have you recently ovulated then? As far as I'm aware, the pattern of yours shows you're around 4DPO? Mine has the same pattern

I've highlighted where I've estimated Ovulation this month.

@SoozC the first dip?

Also do you wear the Fitbit overnight as that's supposed to be most accurate for your RHR

Mines hit or miss but I think my rhr rises just before ovulation then starts dropping until af.

Ovulation is 3rd Jan on my picture

@xLauraa, the lowest dip was around my ov time. Yes, I wear the fitbit overnight.

@juneybean ah that's completely backwards to how I thought it worked 🙈 just goes to show doesn't it!

Do you do OPKs or BBT alongside this?

@xLauraa both! Haha so pretty reliable at pin pointing ovulation.

This is my kind of thread! I do love data.

I've been tracking heart rate since I came off birth control in September. For the first 3 cycles I was also tracking BBT alongside it (I didn't this cycle because nobody wants an early alarm over Christmas, and it was stressing me out anyway).

Basically my conclusions are... my heart rate data was RUBBISH. Cycle 1 looked sort of how it's 'supposed to' but other cycles definitely didn't. Having said that, my BBT didn't follow great patterns either so it's entirely possible I had anovulatory cycles after Mirena?

Then this cycle (cycle 4) I had a horrible cold before ovulation which seems to have sent my RHR skyrocketing (never been that high since I got my fitbit. Then it dropped after O, and has only started rising again now that I've had my BFP.

My personal conclusion is that it's a really unreliable way to track ovulation. BBT is more reliable, but to be honest this month I just relied on OPKs and my CM and it was my preferred way of doing things.

It wouldn't let me attach the fourth picture, but this one is my current cycle without BBT.

Great thread by the way, I love seeing other people's data!

My rhr always rises after ovulation and then drops like a stone the day before af arrives. Maybe if it drops after ovulation that could indicate a pregnancy! I think I’m due to ovulate either today or tomorrow and it’s shot up today, but I did enjoy a couple of glasses of wine last night and it always rises the day after I’ve had a drink too.

@winterwarmers Did you carry on with the OPKs after the 9th?

@juneybean ahhh I'm going to have to do OPKs next month then 🙈 where are you at in your cycle at the moment?

@coffeeplastic you're my kind of woman ! Loving the data 😂 I see what you mean, Cycle 1 + 2 look pretty much textbook and then #3 is just like whaaaaaat!
I'm deffo never setting an alarm to check my BBT, DP would never allow it haha!

Think I'll start with OPKs next month, I came of birth control (Depo) almost 2 years ago but I'm still irregular and probably have anovulatory cycles too!

Congrats on the BPF 😊

@DoAsDreamersDo mines the same, drops the day before AF, then goes up a little sometimes on the day so in the morning I think, oh well it might still be ok..... then AF arrives later in the day! :(

Hi. I've lost count of what cycle I'm on & it's bloody frustrating, I've read a bit about Fitbit being useful but I must admit I don't fully understand. The lowest reading is the last day of AF. Anyone got any pointers for me? x

@Twistedsister7

Mine tends to drop a few days before AF arrives then continues to track down, then starts to rise around/after OV.
Stays high if pregnant apparently. I've seen this work for some but as always, doesn't work for everyone 😊

It's in the 100s when pregnant (for me at least) and I burnt 647 calories in an hour when pregnant 😂

You're supposed to turn heart monitor off when you're preg just FYI

My resting heart rate rose and plateaued at 20bpm higher than normal which is what prompted me to test this month and I got a positive at 8dpo

Hmm here's my pre pregnancy months (first day of period) July 9th & Aug 7th, next period start was Sep 6th and I conceived a week after roughly but I don't see much correlation?
