Hi.
I was wondering if anything could help. I came off pill about 5 months ago ttc number 2.i have 28-29 day cycles except last month my period was a week late! I am now 2 days late if I am having a normal 28-29 day cycle. Will my periods be bk to normal 28 day cycle or the longer one? Anyone any experience? Thanks

Nobody can really tell you unfortunately. My cycles have always been 28-29 days for the last 16 years. I started ttc last December and they were still regular until month 10 when I was 4 days late. The month after I was two days early. It is most likely the case that you ovulated late the month your period was late. It’s more than possible you will be late again. Maybe a few days, maybe a week again. I wouldn’t worry about it unless you are starting to be extremely late every month as it might indicate a hormonal issue

It can be a nightmare when your body starts getting a mind of its own lol do you use opks? If not, I’d suggest using them. There’s so many reason for a late period but a lot of the time it’s down to late ovulation or no ovulation.

But why all of a sudden? I feel so naive and silly as with my first it took 3 months. I new it might take longer but now im worried im just not ovulating! We dont have to much sex as have our lo and our often tired and without sounding weird I like to do it more when im ovulating and then we dont worry rest of the month lol. Im paranoid one if us ia suddenly not working :(

Definitely get opks and get one of the apps to track your period. You could also temp. I came off the pill in sept then had a 28 then 39 day cycle. Everyone is different. I did read that stress and exercise can also delay your period so could be one of those things?

No idea why all of a sudden snowwhite I was just as baffled when my periods suddenly started going weird after my implant had been out for so long. I had it removed in Dec last year and had 28-29 day cycles until October. Then my cycles went; 34 days, 26 days, 31 days. I have no idea why. I’ve not done anything differently.

I have a daughter too (she’s 9 and just starting to know what sex is!) and my partner works nights so we have trouble finding time to have sex. As you’re only 5 months in, no doctor will accept you for fertility tests so in the meantime I would use opks. It might show you’re ovulating late. All you can do is have sex when you get a positive opk (and a few days before if you can) and keep doing the opks every month and then if you get to a year of ttc without conceiving then speak to your doctor. If your periods start being extremely irregular (2+ weeks late) and it’s happening a lot, your gp might do some blood tests but unfortunately, they’ll just dismiss you otherwise :(

Thanks for that. I am obviously hoping there is nothing wrong. I use a tracking app on my phone but u habe to put ur cycle in which i was hoping would go back to 28 days. The only stress i have is irregular periods and thinking about when i might be ovulating. I have a lovely littke girl and am so lucky i didnt think i would think about it all so excessively second time round x

There might not be anything wrong, might just be your body going a bit crazy trying to figure out how it’s meant to be working without birth control. It’s one of the reasons that drs won’t bother testing anything as it can take up to a year for your body to settle into some kind of routine once you come off contraception. If you’re using a tracking app, you’ll definitely benefit from using opks. Try them for a few cycles, it might give you the answer as to why you’re having irregular periods, if you’re not ovulating on the days you expect to be, an opk will show that as you won’t get a positive line. I have a daughter who was conceived while I was on the pill. I’ve been contraception-free for over a year and not been pregnant. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been pregnant, when you really want something it kind of takes over! Lots of luck to you :)

Is an opk an ovulation test? Sorry to be silly just checking? Do u have to them all through the month? I wasnt keen on using them as I think that will makr it more stressful but I think ur right ill try next month just to check i am actually ovulating. Ladt month i swear i had pains and egg textured discharge 14 days in. Abyway still a small chance i might be preg this month :) good luck to you to. Xx

Yes it’s an ovulation predictor kit. You start using them about cd9 and do them twice a day until you get a positive. They’re worth a go and you can always stop if you find it’s getting stressful
