MRI Scan with Contrast Dye Gadolinium

I burst my ear drum earlier this year and have been left with what is known as pulsatile tinnitus in that ear. This is ringing as per normal tinnitus but also a whooshing sound which is time with my heartbeat. I was referred to ENT and they think that it is damaged blood vessels around my ear which is making me hear my heartbeat but wont know for sure unless i get an MRI scan done and inject a contrast dye called Gadolinium to see if that is the case........

We already have a little girl but we have been trying for our second one on and off for 3 years now....

The scan is optional as it would determine what has actually happened around my ear however if damage is found there is nothing they can do to repair blood vessels anyway! but i guess it rules out anything sinister.....

I do not like the idea of them injecting a contrast dye into my blood stream if i am honest..... ive read that it is safe but i worry about the after affects of this substance when we start trying again after the MRI Scan will it affect my fertility...? how long should i wait until we start trying ? the dye leaves your body via your urine after 24 hours seemingly so i thought i should probably wait till the next cycle before trying again and just hope that it does not affect my fertility!

Thoughts please!

Gadolinium is excreted very quickly. I have experience of breastfeeding after having a scan, and while hospital said 48 hours, the Breastfeeding Network say that there is no risk. It's designed not be absorbed into tissue, hence it's use as a contrast. If hospital say no risk then it's likely to be the case as they tend to err very much on the side of caution.

Thanks for your repy annie, Yes ive read that it gets out of your body by 24 hours it just worries me alittle, the fertility clinic say we have no issues so our infertility at the moment is unexplained i just didnt want to add to the problem by adding a contrast agent into my bloodstream as another hurdle!

The MRI contrast contains a toxic heavy metal called gadolinium and it does not all leave your body in 24 hours. In fact, some of that toxic heavy metal will deposit into your brain and bones and other tissues and there is no known way to remove it. You can confirm this by listening to the FDA meeting of 9/8/2017 on youtube where it is being discussed and where they admit that EVERYONE retains some of this toxic heavy metal from the MRI contrast. You can learn more by going to The Lighthouse Project and gadoliniumtoxicity dot com. Some, even many with healthy kidneys, have been poisoned because they retained so much of the heavy metal. Please beware.

It is not true that the gadolinium is all excreted quickly. I would have my child tested for gadolinium levels. Please see //www.gadoliniumtoxicity.com.

The MRI machines are not all the same. The rats during the tests for the newer more powerful magnets did not fare well. I would completely avoid MRI...even the older machines and even without the contrast. However, that said, if I just had to have a look, I'd insist on the MRI machine with the smaller magnet and insist on as short a period at low doses of energy as possible. You will likely be told it can't be done, but it can. I also would ask myself if I had a brain tumor, what action would I take. And then I would go ahead and take that action without knowing whether it was a brain tumor or not. I would not use radiation and chemotherapy but I would stop all sugars which are known to feed tumors and I would increase my intake of antioxidants and do all I could to help my immune system fight off the tumor cells. Essiac Tea (homemade...not bottled), Andrographis Paniculata, and other roots and herbs. There is lots of info on improving immune function and protecting ourselves from stresses that increase cancer risks. That is the action I took when I was diagnosed with cancer in 1989 that was confirmed by a biopsy and a pathology report. The pathology report showed that the cancer had not all been removed and the surgeon wanted to do more surgery, chemo and radiation. I refused any further treatment and did what I mention above. I was told I would be dead within the year and that was 27 years ago. Chemo destroys the immune system and while it may set back a tumor temporarily, the tumors usually come back with a vengeance and the chemo loses effectiveness or due to its toxicity cannot continue to be used and then we are sunk since our immune systems are destroyed by it. Life is full of risks and choices. You have to decide whether you are comfortable making your own decisions for yourself or if you will follow orders from a doctor. Realize too, that all doctors will not even agree as to what is the best action to take under the same set of circumstances. My doctors realize that I consult them, but that I do not take orders from them. The fact that you are questioning this shows that you too realize you have to make choices that are best for you.
