How are people certain of the day they ovulate?

Hi, just wondering how are people certain of the exact day of ovulation? What do you’s use to track it? All I’ve ever used is OPK’s now I had a positive OPK today which I know means I SHOULD ovulate within the following 12-48 hours. But how do yous know when it happens exactly? I’m just trying to find out which cycle day I will be on when I do ovulate so want to know what to check for.
TIA x

Also I can sometimes get a positive OPK 2 days running. So when would I start the “12-48 hours” from? If you know what I mean

If you track your temp using a specific bbt thermometer (sensitive to .00 decimal) then you’ll notice you’re temperature rises usually but 0.2 degree and stays elevated above the last 6 days, for 3 days. Then generally continues to rise or just stays high. You can also us CM to check ovulation but generally this is the same as opk. It’s all your body gearing up to ovulate. Sometimes it doesn’t happen. But the only way to confirm is with bbt, blood test or scan. Bbt is the only one you can do at home. The first day of your temp shift is then marked as 1dpo.
Hope that helps. 😁

I conceived both my children in the first month.
I got cheap ovulation sticks from Amazon and we had sex days 12,14 and 16.

Worked both times

I get three days of positive opks and I ovulate on the third day. I get very painful cramps in one side and my bbt raises.

Ok thank you all for your replies. I think I’ll invest in a bbt thermometer.. x

Really. I can’t say I’ve ever had pain (or not that I’ve noticed) how does it feel? What kind of pain and how long does kg last?

i get pain around day 10 to 13, it feels like a sharp, full feeling in lower abdomen. either left or right side depending on which ovary.

it sort of feels worse when you need to pee, and when you eventually pee you can almost feel the pressure being taken off!

i track my cycle using an app called Clue, its quite helpful. i ovulate between day 10 and 14, and you can tell by secretions too.

I can tell I'm about to ovulate by the presence of ewcm. Then confirmation that I have ovulated is boob ache which kicks in about 24 hrs afterwards and then stays with me right up until af arrives. No boob ache = anovulatory cycle. Which fortunately doesn't happen very often. X

Temperature is the only way I can tell. I don't get any pain or cramps and cervical mucous only gives me a rough idea.

I've always temped with a £3 Boots thermometer, works for me. Fertility Friend is the best app. Or anything except Ovia.

I use opks I was taking 3 per day from day 9. I would get fade in pattern and once Iv got my positive I’d have ovulation pain usually the next day. It’s an ache low down on one side it can lasts quite a few hours and sometimes stops and starts over the day.

The sticks really didn’t work for me, but I had a rough idea when I ovulated & paid particular attention for a few cycles. I also get a twinge on the left or right side, I could miss it if I wasn’t paying attention!

Kkk its an excruciating cramp, one side one month and the other side the next. If I am sat down I cant even raise my foot off the floor. Leaves me breathless and a bit shaky.

And im quite robust when it comes to pain.

Thank you everyone . I definitely can’t say I experience any cramp or boob ache. Think for me only option will be to invest in a bbt thermometer x

Also feels like periods. Kind of a cramping feeling, sore boobs and I would shag the sofa leg I’m that horny. Constantly think about sex and I’m literally having to wear pads because I produce so much discharge.

I had no idea when I ovulated prior to having ds, but I'm fairly certain of the day now due to a stabby pain in the abdomen (on opposite sides each month, right hurts more) quickly followed by becoming distractingly horny.

It got to the point where I started taking the pill as I couldn't be doing with being so wound up for a week every month on top of killer periods. The rollercoaster was bloody exhausting. The pill has my hormones feeling a bit more stable now

When ttc I never got a positive (or any colour line) on an opk but I must have ovulated as fell pregnant.
