WARNING ON MARION GLUCK CLINIC

if you were scanned by Dr Stefano Cirillo at the Marion Gluck clinic and given the all clear, you should get yourself re-scanned. He scanned me, told me I was fine, and 4 months later i was in the A&E with 6 cm dermoid cyst that had caused an ovarian torsion. I lost my right ovary as a result of his negligence. My NHS consultant told me she would bet her life my cyst was there when I was scanned 4 months prior and the doctor missed it. One month after I complained to Marion Gluck herself, telling her she needed to tell every woman he'd scanned that they should be rechecked, Dr Cirillo skips town and they say they don't have an address for him. I was lucky. My cyst wasn't cancerous but I lost an ovary, which seems to have tipped me into full-fledged menopause. I am putting out this warning so that other women know the clinic is not reliable and it can have disastrous consequences. I have been told by other doctors that they've had problems with scans from the Marion Gluck clinic.

Dear OP, *[edited by MNHQ to remove name]

We are very disappointed by your comment as we have invited you to the clinic to discuss this matter in person. We do not feel it is reasonable to say we have been negligent as these claims are unfounded. As a responsible healthcare provider, we do take your complaint very seriously and are fully prepared to work with you to seek a resolution on this matter.

Yours sincerely,
Lorenza, General Manager at The Marion Gluck Clinic

With all do respect, if its unfounded why has the person in question gone awol? I hope that this is thoroughly investigated because nobody should have to go through such a thing in this day and age, with the kindof technological advances in the medical field nowadays.

If this is true, i hope you get justice OP.

Sounds very traumatic OP.

It is unprofessional and probably breaks patient confidentiality to name the OP in your post. She has posted anonymously and that confidentiality should be respected. If you have a problem with the content then report the post, don't dig yourself a deeper hole.

Seems kind of silly for the clinic to post a response as now it has been bumped for more people to read this!
I must say I do find this very worrying - thank god it wasn't cancerous! But no woman should have to go through that. There's no point getting scanned if you can't trust the clinic. I'll steer clear - thanks for speaking up, OP.

I didn’t request my post was withdrawn btw-I guess MN withdrew it because I said how the OP was referred to by name in the clinic post and was reporting it. Good edit, MN!

Why is a business posting on mumsnet? It’s not for you it’s for parents, parents to be and those hoping to be parents. Some of wholm are struggling like this poor op. Shame on you for naming and embarrassing her.
We’re here to support each other and share experience and opinions. Butt out!

How the bloody hell does the clinic know about the post?? Don't private providers follow data protection??

Bump for you, OP and Flowers

Grossly unprofessional to use the OPs actual name. Absolutely disgusting.

OP - contact the GMC. They can investigate if there's concerns that the doctor is failing to read scans correctly.

I'm amazed this op is allowed to stand - I posted about a paediatrician encouraging mothers to stop breastfeeding and have been promptly deleted!

Trojan-that’s a good point. It is a concern that a professional medical clinic can be so poor with confidentiality.

Clinic sounds really shady.

They probably have someone Googling the clinic name and brought this up. It’s bad form to argue with reviews though. And naming the OP? Unprofessional.

Wow I can't believe an actual clinic would be so brazen about data protection as to name a patient on an anonymous forum. What the actual?? Says a lot about this particular clinic and the 'care' they provide patients.

So sorry you've been through this OP Flowers
