Extra high days

Hello
What is a normal length of time to show high days on the clearblue ovulation tests? Before I have shown 2 days but this month I'm on 5th day. Is that a good thing? Does this mean my fertility is improving since coming off the pill?
Thanks xx

I'm wondering the same - using ClearBlue for the first time this month and so far 4 high days but no peak.

It could just mean the test didn’t pick up your peak.

High is caused by a rise is estrogen. Peak is caused by catching the LH surge.

The LH surge could have been during the day, so not picked up in first morning urine.

Don’t think about it too much - you have highs so get shagging

So the LG surge can only show for a short period of time then? That makes more sense, thanks. Been DTD regardless, so here's hoping.

Yep - your LH surge could be quite short, so not picked up by the tests

You could use cheap tests during the day alongside the CB to test for LH, but these are best used between 10am and 6pm

Once you get a flashing smiley high on the CB test you can test more than once a day with it so you don't miss your surge.

I got 9 high readings before my peak on day 10 the first time I used them. They learn your hormones. The second time I used them I got 3 highs and then my peak. Stick with them.

@Nimbleknitter you seem knowledgeable, can i pick your brains? I've been wondering this too, my last 3 cycles i have only had Highs (for around 10 days, no peaks) i'm guessing i'm probably just missing my LH surge but i find it strange that cycles previous to this i was getting Peaks, any thoughts? I'm just worried i'm not ovulating.

Peaks won’t tell you if you’ve ovulated, only when the LH hormone has been released, which is the body’s signal to ovulate.

If you’re worried you aren’t ovulating there are a few ways to check

(1) temping using a bbt thermometer and an app - when you ovulate, your progesterone levels spike. Progesterone makes your bbt warmer, so when you see your temp spike you know you’ve ovulated.

(2) a blood teat, 7 days after you think you’ve ovulated (often called a cd21 test). This will check your progesterone levels, which can see if you’ve ovulated and if you are releasing enough progesterone. This is what the doc orders when you go for fertility testing

(3) an internal ultrasound, where the wand is jnserted into your vagina. Using this test, a doctor can see if any egg is about to be released, or if there’s a bruise on the ovary, indicating an egg has been released.

2 and 3 need a doctor - either an NHS referral or a private test. NHS will usually only refer if you have a known fertility issue or have been trying for a year, so bbt might be the place to start for now.

Good luck!

Thanks for that Nimbleknitter think I will try temping next cycle
