I am having a scan tomorrow to check my ovarian cyst but think i may be pregnant....

3 months ago I had what I think must have been a chemical pregnancy. I was testing positive for 2 weeks but then began to bleed - we had a scan at what we believed to be 6 weeks and were advised there was no evidence of any pregnancy having been there.

They also found a cyst on my ovary measuring 4.6 centimetres. NHS policy is that they will not treat cysts unless they are over 5cm so I was told to come for another scan after 3 months. In the meantimeI was told to just carrying on trying as the cyst may go away on its own.

We didn't try in June, July or August as we felt hurt and confused by the excitement of believing we were pregnant and then being told we were not. My GP suggested a chemical pregnancy had occurred which provided some reassurance.

We began to TTC again this month.

My 3 month scan is tomorrow and I am very anxious about the results.

I am mostly really worried as my period is due tomorrow but I think I may be pregnant - a first response test yesterday gave a BFP and my boobs are very tender and sore.

Problem is I just cant believe the tests this time around - I took 9 tests last time (all positive) to be told there was no pregnancy.

At my scan tomorrow I will be 4 weeks (If I am even pregnant) - will the scan show anything? Will the scan give me any reassurance at all?

Time is just moving so slowly and I feel so confused - any advice would be appreciated!

Last time I went for a scan to check a cyst I was 14 weeks pregnant!!
Obviously tell them about the bfp. Maybe they will do blood tests aswell as the scan. Chemical pregnancies are truly awful.
Mess with your head. .

If you got a BFP, you are more than likely pregnant. I'm not sure whether much would show up at the scan, I didn't have an early scan until 9 weeks. Can you test again today and tomorrow then mention to the sonographer that you have had positive tests and then they can have a look while you're there?

Thanks Winter I hadnt thought of asking for a blood test - are they more reliable?

I will definitely test again tomorrow Cakes and will mention the results before the scan

I am just worried to feel excited after the disappointment last time and don't want OH to be upset again either - I haven't actually told him about yesterdays test and not sure if I should - I felt really silly last time for getting carried away about a pregnancy we were told didn't exist.

The tests are reliable. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing if this embryo will stick and carry on developing or vanish like the last one :(
If you'll be 4 weeks pregnant at the scan, they might not be able to see an awful lot - maybe a little dot. Things like gestational sacs are visible later on. I do wish you the best of luck and hope it works this time.

Had my scan yesterday - the cyst has cleared up on its own and I have two healthy ovaries!

They couldn't see anything else just yet but said that was normal- said they couldn't do a blood test and that I should just wait a week or two to see if AF arrives

Have done another test and it's a strong line so just hoping that it sticks this time!!
