i feel so alone and quite ridiculous but im SURE it could still happen.
backstory - 2 adult kids
new dp who i would love a child with.
got pg at 44 but had a tfmr due to chromosomal abnormalities in 2nd trimester
i still ovulate monthly according to opks and regular cycle. im a young 45 although realise y eggs might not be....

it feels like all the success stories i read are accidents where mums thought they were menopausal and low and behold discovered they were pg and bingo!

i got pg easily at 44. ithat pg didnt end well. but now im "trying" its been a year and nothing. i do think that getting pg is massively down to luck and not much else.

ive been taking vitamins etc but not much else. is there anyone else out there mid 40s . iso wish id started trying at 42 when i met dp but it was messy. not realisitic.
but is it now really.? i am not googling stats im on the verge of seeing a private consultant. ( and likely wasting a lot of money!)

My friend started trying at 44 and has had her eggs analysed and been told not only are they pretty abundant but they're in v good nick so - in theory - assuming her DPs swimmers are ok there's no reason why she couldn't have a baby.

Have you had your eggs analysed?

Have you tried soy isoflavones, even if ovulating they make it stronger. Pre seed has anecdotal success also.

If I remember correctly from my time ttc#2, CoQ10/Ubiquinol is supposed to help with egg quality. Might be worth a shot if you're looking at supplements. Good luck!

You take them in the same way as clomid but double the clomid dose. So cycle day 3-7 for example. Different start days in you cycle differ for different women, 4-8 may be better for some women.

Re soy isofavones, you can buy in a chemist or your supermarket. See the link above by AndNowItIsSeven.

Good luck.

You can't get your eggs analysed for quality- that doesn't exist. The only tests available go to how many follicles you have and how likely you are to respond to IVF stimulation drugs.
The best marker of egg quality is whether you get pregnant with a viable embryo. Egg quality is entirely age related , which is not to say you can't get lucky and have a month where a good one is released but chances are small.
There's a book called 'it stars with the egg' which suggests some supplements may be helpful. These are iirc coenzyme Q10, resveratrol, vitamin c or e, vitamin d. There may be others I've forgotten! Good luck.

I have very little faith in consultants as after I was told to go home as there was nothing else they could do for me at 41 I found out I was carrying twins 3 weeks later but Mc @ 6 weeks . That's was 18 months ago . Wish I'd done more research on what I could do to help my chances of conceiving naturally . I stil find it hard to enjoy this pregnancy as I was told even if I ger pregnant , I wouldn't carry full term..

I was told my fsh levels had to be below 9 to qualify for NHS ivf ... mine were 15 so they said that was an indication of poor quality eggs .
