Conception

If I somehow fell pregnant while on period, would I still ovulate that month??

I know it's technically possible but not very probable to get pregnant during a period. We dtd towards the end of my last period and thought nothing of it as we're not the most fertile at the best of times. I noticed now though that I don't seem to be ovulating at my usual time? Any link or am I being overly paranoid?

You won't ovulate if you're pregnant.

If you are pregnant you won't ovulate after conceiving. If you ovulated earlier than usual, which can happen, you won't ovulate again until your next cycle, even if you aren't pregnant.

Thanks, presume I could test two weeks after we dtd and don't need to wait until AF is due?

That depends if you are certain you ovulated at the end of your period. If you aren't certain, it might be best to wait until your period is due as that way you will know either way. Unless you are not trying to conceive and want to know as soon as possible, in which case I presume 14 days after conception would give you a pretty accurate answer.

Yeah that's the thing - I usually ovulate around a week after my period ends, but nothing this month. Could just be that I'll ovulate later than usual, only reason I'm concerned is that holidays are coming up and I don't want to pickle anything in sangria unintentionally :)

Ovulating when pregnant is technically possible but incredibly rare - it's how you end up with superfecundation.
Yes it's possible you're pregnant - you could also just have missed the ovulation or be having an off month.
Test when your period is due

Don't forget as well that technically sperm can live up to around five days inside the body.. So you could have ovulated a few days after the end of your period and the sperm would have been laying in situ ready to fertilise the released egg.

How are you confirming ovulation? You can only know for absolute certain you have by a positive pregnancy test.

Ovulation strips are an indication of a surge. Not that you actually ovulate. Taking your temperature helps too as you'll see a spike.

Yep I'm not being terribly technical about it because we're not actively ttc at the moment, but usually I would notice a lot of EWCM by now. I'm sure it's all nothing, given our history the odds are slim at the best of times!

EWCM is not an indication of you ovulating. I get it for a whole 2 weeks of my cycle and sometimes none at all. In fact the cycle I got my BFP I had none. Please try to understand how your cycle works and when you are most fertile, it will help you when you do decide to TTC. Good luck!
