My understanding is that the line on the left should be as dark or darker than the line on the right?! So almost there Smile keep testing today...

How many months have you been testing? The 2nd line should be as dark as the control line, however it takes a few months of practice to learn what's normal for you. You may find that yours gets darker but not as dark as the control line. Life would be so much easier if we all fit in to that 'normal' box.

Also you should get your strongest reading in the afternoon, however with DC1 I always found that my surge was in the morning.

Not a positive unless the test line is as dark or darker. I NEVER got a positive line with Boots ones but nearly always do with Clearblue. Once I actually used a Boots one the day I got a Clearblue positive and the Boots one was negative! I think I have low surges because once I even got a negative CB result and got pregnant that cycle. I'd recommend CB if you don't get positives with Boots.

This is the first month testing (second time around though after 6 years). Had a blearingly obvious negative today, wasn't able to get clearblue yesterday so had to settle for boots but had some ovulation signs as well so hoping it was positive. Can't rely on cycles at the moment as they have ranged from 28 - 45 days for the last 6 cycles Confused

You may well get your surge in a couple of days then!

As I said, not everyone gets those blazing lines when they're ovulating. I get a line every day of the month. It then gets darker as I approach ovulation. The first month I tried this time my 2nd line was darker than the control line. The 6th month (the month I conceived) I didn't get a darker line at all. Lines stayed consistently light. Also my ovulation and cycle was completely different when I tried for DC2 compared to when I was trying for DC1. It's all trial and error, unfortunately.
