How Long Did You Take To Get Pregnant?

Hi...

I am currently in my first month of TTC. I was on the contraceptive pill before this and I have had one period. I use an App to track when I should be ovulating and believe I just did last week. I DTD 4/6 days of ovulating...

I just want to see what other people's experience with how quickly they conceived.

I am 21 years old and healthy.

Thanks

Hey. Everyone is different. I'm 23 and very healthy. Took me 2 years to conceive which then ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks. Currently on my 4th cycle since miscarriage. It's extremely hard to say when you will conceive, some take 1 try while others take a bit longer.

Good luck xx

Cuppateanosugar · 26/05/2017 22:32

I'm 22. Took the pill from 13 years or age and got pregnant ON THE PILL. whilst taking it properly no sickness or diarrhoea etc. I'm now 13 weeks. Good luck on ttc I'm sure it won't take long! Try to relax. It always seems to be the people 'trying' and tracking. Can have difficulty because you're stressing. Try to enjoy the trying x

adlertippa · 26/05/2017 22:34

2nd try, after a decade spent presuming I'd have trouble because my periods are hugely irregular (disappear for months, skip months, 7 week cycles, all sorts). In a way it may have helped because I had paid quite a bit of attention to my cycle over the years so I had worked out how to tell when I was ovulating. So no messing around with ovulation kits or charting.

Good luck!

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2017 22:36

For DC1 I was 28 & it took almost a year.

With DC2 it took about 5 minutes Grin. Literally the first time of trying, which was a bit of a shock. They are only 16 months apart.

I think it took about four months to get pregnant with DC3.

It's different for everyone & you can't predict it. Good luck!

kitkat321 · 26/05/2017 22:41

First time every time although 3 of my 4 pregnancies ended in mc.

Trying again having come off the pill in April- had my first period and hopefully ovulating now so fingers crossed!

BertieBotts · 26/05/2017 22:41

It happened for me within one month when I was 19.

But, and I mean this in a nice way, not a judgemental one, are you sure you're ready for a baby at 21? Because while I was probably ready mentally for a baby when I got pregnant, in hindsight the relationship I was in just wasn't stable or supportive enough at all really. If I could go back that's the one thing I'd change, I don't think that age is necessarily a problem, but I think the age I was I hadn't been with my boyfriend for very long and didn't have a lot of relationship experience, it felt stable, he was saying all the right things - but if I was honest with myself I didn't really feel secure and safe in the relationship. In hindsight, I had so much time and I wish that I had waited to see how the relationship developed before I came off the pill.

Mumsnet has a great Relationships board which really helped me work out what I felt, perhaps it would help you too? There is really no harm in postponing this decision for a few months or even years, if it's what you want to do. Time and biology is very much on your side!

ew1990 · 26/05/2017 22:42

26 and took me 2 years x

Fliptophead · 26/05/2017 22:43

3 minutes.

Baddum tish

(A few years actually)

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 26/05/2017 22:44

32 and DTDs were a happy 'surprise'

MrsGB2225 · 26/05/2017 22:45

I got my bfp 2 months after taking my last pill.

user1482079332 · 26/05/2017 22:45

28 3months after being on the pill

Waddlelikeapenguin · 26/05/2017 22:48

First month without contraception x three. All those years of being paranoid about contraception.... not paranoid!

Viletta · 26/05/2017 22:53

Hello. Norma is 6 months. Up to a year of you are unlucky. After that you should check with GP if all is good with you both. Some people get pregnant cycle 1. Make sure you dtd in your fertility window every other day. You are young, everything will be good! Good luck!

Hulababy · 26/05/2017 22:56

I was about 25/26 when I started to TTC. Id been taking the pill for about 10 years previously.

Took about 14 months but that sadly ended in an early mc. Another 14m after that.

Everybody is different.

jmscp2015 · 26/05/2017 23:08

Echoing others, everybody is different.

25 now and took 2 years.

Oddsocksforeveryone · 26/05/2017 23:11

Tried for years with one dp.
Diagnosed with pcos.
Tried for a year with fiancé.
Pregnant first time together with ex - miscarried at 10 weeks
Tried for 8 months - ds1
1st time - ds2
10 months not exactly trying with DH - dd1
6 months later accidentally conceived - dc4
Probably not helpful but they were all different

JadeC96 · 27/05/2017 10:39

Hi BertieBotts

Me and my partner have been together 5 years this year, since we were 16. We have both received a degree together within this time and we have spoke about when we will be ready to TTC since early in our relationship. So after waiting for five years, I would say yes that I and we are ready.

I found your response a little patronising if I am honest.

I came here not because I am worried, I am simply curious, I just want to hear other people's stories, maybe it takes my mind off the excitement of taking a test in 9 days.

I am more than ready.

Thank you everyone for all your responses and good luck wishes♥️

My test is due to be taken in 9 days and I am so excited. I am so curious about things that I have no idea about. I love to research and find things out, not in a worrying way, more of a curious excited way.

I will keep reading through the responses here.

Thank you again everyone
💕

It took 5 months after my last pill for DD when I was 34. It took 2 months with #2 and I'm 36.

forfucksakejanet · 27/05/2017 11:55

DC1 first month off the pill, DC2 12 cycles. It all depends on so many different things

ForeverHopeful21 · 27/05/2017 17:50

It too me over 2.5 years to get pregnant (sadly miscarried), but a few of my friends got pregnant in just a few months.

NapQueen · 27/05/2017 17:54

Dc1 conceived on second month of trying. Had stopped the pill a year before and used condoms; which weve also just kept using since.

Pregnancy2 (mc at 11wks): took 5 months.

Dc2 (preg3): one dtd once, ovulated the next morning. Hey presto.

I get excruciating ovulation pain, so always was able to tell when, but due to the pains never much fancied dtd around it. I also found keeping a little eye on my cervical mucus helped.

I'm 32, coil removed in January, pregnant in February. Smile

Viletta · 28/05/2017 14:27

They say right after you go off the pill, you are most fertile

FluffyTowers · 28/05/2017 14:44

Fell pregnant at 21 after being off the pill for 1 month, at 23 fell pregnant in first month of ttc, at 31 it was a drunken fumble which coincided with ovulation day apparently.

Fingers crossed for you!
