Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help. My GP has agreed to do my day 2 and day 21 hormone tests as we are struggling to conceive. I've just looked at when day 21 is and it falls on a Sunday. The Monday is bank holiday. So I know you can do the day 2 tests on either day 2, 3 or 4 but does anyone know the timeframe within which you can have the day 21? Should I wait for the Tuesday when it'll be day 23 or go the Friday before when it'll be day 19?

Thanks in advance x

I'm having my 21 day bloods on CD23 as my CD21 lands on a Saturday! Doctor said that it wasn't an issue and to tell the phlebotomist what day I am on so it can be noted. Probably works slightly better for me anyway as I tend to ovulate on CD 15/16 so probably a better gauge of what they are trying to establish. Do you know what day you typically ovulate and make a call based on that?

Thank you. I normally ovulate cd 14 or 15 so not too dissimilar to you - guessing waiting till the Tuesday (cd23) would be fine in that case. It never occurred to me to check what day day 21 was when I was with the gp! Thanks x

Asking you can have an envelope with the details in it so you can take it to your local phlebotomy at hospital and they can draw bloods on that date
If you have low progesterone, look up agnus castus - it helped for me!!

Thanks for the tip Flumpy. I've heard of Angus castas-will look in to it more if needs be.

Does anyone know if as part of these day 2 and day 21 tests they test thyroid function? If not is this something that the gp will test for? X

I don't think they would automatically test thyroid function unless that was specifically requested. You could always see if you can see your GP before the blood tests to request an additional test? I'd presume that they would just take another vial of blood?

I had a thyroid test separately - ask your doctor if they can check that too

Welsh I had tests done on cd4 and cd21. The paperwork from the GP shows that day 4 is also tested for thyroid (as well as a few other things) so it's not always done secretly ...it will state it on your pathology paperwork if you were give it. x

Meant to say *separately (not secretly!) stupid autocorrect!
