Hi ladies, another question... I've pretty much stopped drinking since trying for a baby but its a bit difficult when socialising and you dont want ppl to know you're trying. Not really sure how to get round it without ppl asking though and I know once I do get pregnant you're not supposed to say anything too early.

What's the question?

Fair play to you, I would have gone mad without my evening G&T or glass of wine when I was ttc-ing.

Just tell them you've given up drinking for health reasons. Plenty of people don't drink, it's not that unusual.

I stopped drinking a couple of years ago because i found it a pointless waste of money, noone's really questioned me. Just tell them you've decided to lay off it a while

I just drink pre tww... then have an inch in my glass during tww at social occasions and pretend to sip. I find people ask questions if I say no to alcohol but don't notice if I don't drink any but have a glass! I wouldn't worry too much though, I still had the odd half a glass of alcohol when pregnant eg champagne at new year. As long as you aren't having a glass of wine every night! And you may not be pregnant anyway..

But as said above not that unusual these days to give up: money, health, weight, detox, lent whatever...

Thanks for the replies guys x I don't think it would hurt every now and then but I do feel better for not drinking anyway x

@HOD32x you think people would ask questions about you not drinking but you'll be surprised that they don't really care and will forget about it as soon as you give an excuse (not feel like it today, just no thank you or headache).

I did the same and just said I was trying to be a bit healthier and cut down on fizzy and alcoholic drinks

The odd drink won't effect your chances much tbh but if you don't want a drink can't you just say you don't fancy it, if a friend said that to me I'd think nothing of it

Yes to fake glass, excuse, diet etc.

Re not telling people too soon. Tell people when you want to. God forbid something happened, who would you want to support you? Would you really want no one to know what you're going through. In not saying a FB announcement at 4 weeks but telling the people you want to tell when you want will not jinx your pregnancy c
