Thread 28, TTC #1 | We may be hormonal giraffes but we don't eat no low fat humous

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

I'm wingingit but definitely no longer winging it!

Age 33 and trying ttc#1 for a year now

Cycle 14 cd19

Just had my referral from GP and first appointment at clinic is 28 April.
DH has low morphology, and only just acceptable count so GP thinks we'll need assistance.

Currently we're both on various cocktails of supplements-coq10, b50, baby aspirin, maca etc!

Thanks Jam!

I'm Inspector, 36, TTC #1 for 14 months now.
No medical issues and all tests have come back fine. I have PCO but this isn't considered a problem (since I don't have PCOS).

We are considering pressing the switch on our IVF referral in the summer.
Not too down about it all just now since the spring/summer is the time of year when I am actually quite happy not to be pregnant as it means I can still do all the sporty/social things I want to do Grin.

However, time is marching on and we do really want a family long term so can't ignore it forever....

Sorry to all those of you who've had a crappy time lately. I hope the weekend sunshine helps to make things better Flowers

Never had an elusive bfp. Cd21 bloods have been fine for me. DH had sperm analysis and he has "sperm agglutination" which means the sperm clump together and can't swim well. There are two causes - either infection or sperm antibodies. If infection it can be cured with antibiotics. If antibodies it can't be cured and will need either sperm washing(to separate them) and IUI or ICSI. He has just finished his course of antibiotics and will have a repeat sperm analysis in 2 weeks. Dr asked him to drop his pants and had a good look and feel and didn't think it was infection so just have to wait and see. Slightly heartbroken, slightly relieved we have an answer.

Never a hint of a BFP, had tests done - DH is fine, I had low AMH results for my age which means we shouldn't waste time, had HSG and got all clear, have made appointment for 15th May at the Lister to kick off IVF. Still hoping for a BFP before then, but mentally preparing myself.

Started OPKs yesterday (still can't quite bring myself to temp again - hate it with a passion) and got first flashing smiley today. Back on the merry go round we go!

Hey ladies,
Love the new thread title :) had appointment with consultant this morning. All test results have come back all ok and negative for killer cells/ blood clotting etc. But same as last time, she said that she sees lots of people with negative results who end up having more miscarriages/ fertility problems and then have the same tests later and test positive for these problems so she wants me to take the medication as an extra precaution and to try to prevent mc happening again if we do get pg again soon. Apparently your results can vary according to hormones and lots of other variables so because you have a negative now it doesn't mean you are in the clear.

So she said to take clexane up to 12 weeks if we do get pregnant and she has also prescribed steroids - presnidolone- to take once you ovulate until you have period, then if you get pregnant, again you take them until 12 weeks. She wouldn't recommend taking them long term but she said for short term there's no harm. Obviously if there was a chromosome problem we'd still have a mc but if it is something else, the medication would probably help.

We also discussed ivf if things don't happen and she said there's no reason for us to delay, we've been trying for long enough. We'd have to go private because of our positive this year but she said if you can afford it, then go ahead.

I asked if she would recommend any particular clinics and she did say the lister is very good but she said it's important you feel comfortable there and feel good about it because that has a massive effect on your outlook. She said all clinics are regulated and results are there for all to see and most are very good. So we're going to book a consultation for end of May and see what happens in the meantime as my dhs boss and colleague have highly recommended. Overall we're feeling ok about everything and like we have a bit of a plan again which definitely helps.

Sorry for the info overload, I know a lot of you ladies have excellent medical knowledge about all of this stuff and also thought it might help anyone whose in similar position x

How long have you been trying now, do you think you will go for private IVF?

Thanks guys. Yeah I really rate her. She's obviously very professional and medical but also compassionate and understands the role the mind and your emotional well being has to play.

We've been trying now for 18 months now, one early mc in Sep 15 first month of trying and then mmc last month at 11 weeks. Obvs I don't want to wait another 18 months to get a bfp, and she agrees it has taken some time.

We've said if we make appt for end may, that should give us 2 cycles on the steroids and we will have given it a go. It was reassuring for someone to say do it if you can and I guess encourage us to put a bit of a time limit on things. Hopefully in the next two cycles something will happen but if not, we have a plan.

And yes, so much info to take in! I feel like when you're in your appt you feel like you've totally understood everything and taken it all in then you step foot outside and you immediately forget half of it!

Just waiting for AF to leave the building so that we can get cracking again. No known fertility issues - regular periods on my side and we are both pretty fit and healthy.
We are both taking Proxeed and I take Folic Acid too. Use CBD OPKs and temping to confirm ovulation and pretty much managed SMEP last few months, also getting reflexology - get still not even a hint of a BFP.
I love a TTC initiative and most month we are "trying something new" Hmm
I go through phases of thinking that it will happen and that we just need to be patient and make the most of life as a couple and phases of thinking that life is unbearably unfair and that we will never be parents - so I'm probably going to need some hand holding... Blush

Welcome all new people. This thread is a real life saver :)

I had no idea either jam but it makes interesting reading when you google it. It's used to treat recurrent miscarriage and killer cells, which some people don't believe in. Consultant did say if you go to a clinic and they don't prescribe it let me know and I'll write you a prescription. Some people say it's a fertility wonder drug so it's worth a shot anyway, short term.

www.bournhall.co.uk/your-stories/baby-joy-12-years-trying-conceive/

There's lots of stories like this about which is what she was saying to me basically- she's seen so many people where this has worked who maybe didn't test positive for immune issues/ blood clotting but perhaps were borderline and this helped them sustain a pg so it's worth trying before going down the ivf route, and obviously a hell of a lot cheaper!
