Morning all!

So after my BFP this week I have contacted my local EPU as I was advised to (ectopic earlier this year and told to get in touch as soon as I found out I was pregnant again as they'd want to do bloods to monitor HCG and then an early scan).

I'm really annoyed at the way the person on the phone spoke to me. She was extremely dismissive and just told me to go and see my GP for a referral. Even after I explained to her the instructions I'd been given (I.e to call so they can give me the slip for blood tests) she made me feel like an idiot and that they can't do a scan for 'every worried pregnant lady when they like'...never mind that this wasn't what I was asking for! She's made me feel like a silly little girl, and actually upset me a bit. The ectopic was one of the worst things that has happened to me and to be just fobbed off like that this morning and made to feel stupid is really shitty.

On top of that, in my area you self refer to the midwives so the GP doesn't even need to get involved.

My GP is lovely but trying to get an appointment is like getting blood out of a stone.

Normally I would have waited and just self referred, but instead I've been made to feel like an idiot for wasting a few minutes of her precious time on the phone when that was exactly what I'd been told to do.

Sorry this turned into a bit of a rambling rant but I'm just so disappointed, the care I received from he unit previously was generally really great and I feel a bit like a deflated balloon.

Im so sorry about your ectopic, Congrats on your BFP :-) I had an ectopic last year, also told when I catch to call GP to make an appointment to check everythings ok.

I get questioned everytime I call my doctors, when asked I just say I don't want to discuss it with anyone other than the doctor.

That shuts them up most of the time

I've calmed down now and the receptionist at the gp was lovely and has squeezed me in on Monday. Just really disappointed with the person at the EPU, so rude and dismissive.

Goldie that is rude of them, Especially at EPU they should understand why it was so important for you to get checked out.

Have you got over the chock of your BFP? im still so chuffed for you.
