What should we expect from appointment with doctor?

Basically that, really. DH and I have been ttc for almost a year now with no luck and have managed to get an appointment at the doctors' surgery. As far as we're aware, we're healthy and young (ish) and there are no medical problems preventing it from happening (although I'm very aware that this may all change). Has anybody sought medical advice and what should we expect from the first appointment? Very nervous!
Thanks

Hi, we're in the same position but my periods are also really irregular since coming off the pill. I've had a blood test and been referred for an ultrasound and my husband has given a sperm sample. Once all results are in they've said they'll refer us to a specialist. My doctor has been really good so far, hoping the referral doesn't take too long!

Generally they kick things off with blood tests to make sure you're ovulating. You should also be referred to have an internal ultrasound done to check for fibroids and other abnormalities. Your partner will be asked to have a semen analysis done.

This is how the process started for us. Then depending on results etc, you will be taken down the path that best suits your situation. We had unexplained infertility, so we were eventually referred for IVF. However, we fell pregnant naturally before anything came of that. Seemed like it just took us a little longer: 18 months!

Thanks for your replies. Princess I've heard of that happening a few times. I bet it was such a relief!

Appointment booked for next week. Here's hoping it's ok!
