Do you think it's worth paying for fertility tests?

I really hope I don't sound neurotic but I've always had a feeling I can't or won't be able to have kids. I'm 31 and last month first month trying and no luck. My boyfriend works away so we only had sex one time on day 16. My periods do what they want sometimes 26 days then 28 this month 31. About 6 years ago when I was on period I found it difficult the first two days to have a bowel movement as i would get stabbing pain in rectum(this happened 3 times) But went away .. I've been reading it could be endometriosis. I'm thing should I pay for tests? Or am I being silly? I want a baby but bf is away for 4 months now ..
