In the very very very early stages. . Like af arrives within a few days of her due date. I have had 3 and all showed up on an hpt then af showed within a week. Nothing would show on a scan - the only evidence would be the hpt test. Sorry if you have had one they are shit but keep it down in the scheme of things or you will lose strength needed to ttc again. So if u get a positive test say a Monday but then AF appears a Friday that's a chemical pregnancy? I'm all new to this only been on this site a few days xx

Many women would never know if we didn't test early! I made the decision not to anymore and save the heartache. .

Thank you xx I had 2 CP's before i had my son(now 6), We are waiting to try again in November but I am worried about CP's again, and that they have an effect on my fertility. I took baby aspirin before I got my bfp with my son but really don't want to just take it now for no reason. X

If you lose a pregnancy before 6 weeks then that is a chemical pregnancy. After 6 weeks is a miscarriage (up until 24 weeks when it becomes a stillbirth).

Baby aspirin sounds like a good idea and something you should discuss with your GP.

Although it's a very early one, my local hospital still classed chemicals as miscarriages and when I had 3 chemicals folllowed by a mc at 6+1 in 6 months last year, they referred me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic. I'm now 9+4 after being given early intervention with progesterone, aspirin and extra strength folic acid from the day I got my bfp.

Thank you, and sorry for your losses Flowers Seriously thinking about the aspirin as I'm convinced that was the reason I have DS3 now x My first 2 pregnancies I conceived straight away, no issues. X

Hi Hotpink

I've just had two back to back early miscarriages/chemical pregnancies. The private consultant I saw said they were early miscarriages which he suspects were chemical. He explained further implying that its chemical in that the egg tried to implant, sparking hormones but didn't bed into my uterus. Therefore when I got my positive test it could have been over or doomed already.

But he used the two terms interchangeably.
I found them both difficult at the time but felt more positive after a week or so, getting ready for the next month of trying.

They happened back to back and this is my 3rd consecutive month tTc. I'm 3DPO and feeling hopeful.

Sorry to hear about the other CPs you ladies have suffered. I'm hoping I don't have another- 3rd time lucky. We're trying for number one!

I really don't like the term. For me it seems to downplay what's happened. Flowers op. X

Whatever stage, it doesn't make it easier to deal with.

No it doesn't, I hope no one thinks I meant it like that, we were heartbroken when it happened to us xxx Definitely not testing early this time, would rather not know xx

It can be really awful, whatever stage.

I'm going to be testing early as I'm going to try aspirin, if I get a BFP.

No no hot pink! I didn't mean you were downplaying it at all!

I just meant that I've had a few and when it's called that it makes me feel sad for some reason.

Wasn't having a dig at you at all. Flowers
