Hey all. New to mumsnet here, always had a look through but never signed up. Just after some advice really. I had my mirena coil removed yesterday so I can TTC baby number 2. Just wondered how long it took any of you ladies to conceive after having the coil removed and if you have any advice on how to speed things up. I know ttc is a game of a chance anyway (DS took 18 months of trying!) but any advice would be brilliant Smile TIA!

I had my coil out last week. I had a copper coil, so hopefully my body should be back to normal quite quickly. Need my AF to finish so we can get trying.
Can't offer any advice, just wanted to say hi and I'm in a similar boat Smile

I had my marina coil out on 30 Jan and had 3 days with positive ovulation strips starting 19 Feb. I still haven't had AF so I've fingers crossed. I'm just using the strips and praying they help. I have no idea how long it will take for me to get in to a cycle which doesn't help good luck :)

I was going to buy the ovulation strips but im a bit confused about how to use them. Do you use them every day or? I swear it wasn't this complicated when I ttc DC1!!

Your suppose to use them for about 5-7 days when u should be ovulating in Ur cycle but as I've only just had the coil out I don't know where my cycle is at, so I bought some cheap ones and used them everyday. :)

God thats an expensive way to do it. The cheapest I've found round my area is £11 for a pack of 10 which is quite a bit to get weekly. I did download an app but its useless untill AF comes! Can I ask how have you been feeling since you had the coil out? I dont know if its just me but I have had major mood swings since I had it out Monday

I tested daily after coming off the pill. Initially started (stupidly) with clear blue dual monitor testing - bloody expensive! So then bought some One Step strips from Amazon at 50 strips for £9. They work just fine!

I got 5 for £1 in my local so it wasn't that expensive for me. ;)

Littlemisspiggy I've not been to bad. I've only had 1 days bleeding and that was 2 days after having it out. I've had lots of signs such as slight cramping one side, tender boobs and needing to pee but I think I'm just wishing. I found strips 5 for £1 so not to expensive for me ;)

Ooh flipkat that's pretty good! Think I'll head to amazon once DS is in bed!
lee maybe it's a side effect of the coil then cos I've had the same, tender boobs cramping etc. Getting fed up with these mood swings though. Literally feels like the worst PMS Sad my poor DP and DS dont know how to handle me atm lol

Hey girls I had my cooper coil took out on 21st Feb ( I started my af on the 17th Feb and finished 22nd) took an ovulation stick on the 22nd just out of Curiosity coz the doc that took my coil out told me I would fall days after having the coil out ( not sure if he knows something I don't ) and it was a faint line then I didn't take one the 23-24 but took one on the 25th and the line was darker then took one on the 26th and there wasn't one. Since Tuesday I've had niggling pains on and off and also been feeling really bloated and gassy ( sorry tmi) and started feeling sicky. Not sure if it's wishful thinking or not.
I'm not your usual 28day cycle mine is 22 days for some reason. Which means I'm due my next AF 11th. I'm not sure when to test xx

Hi SazWest yep I've had and still got all the symptoms. I'm not sure when I'm due as not been on for 12 years due to coil. But I'm told it should be 14-16 days after ovulation which means I should be due on Sunday. I did a test today and it was negative. I'd hold off untill Ur actual due date or if u can a day or 2 after. I'm tempted to take another test in a few days but not sure I want the disappointment:(
