Hi all, just after a bit of advice/stories from people who've been there.
DH and I have been trying to conceive for a while now (today is CD2 of cycle 9). We both lead relatively healthy lifestyles and my cycles have always been regular. I'm 27 so I don't think my age should be a problem. Two months ago, I started taking folic acid daily and of course we dtd regularly. Still, nothing.
I know the advice is to try naturally for a year before seeking medical advice, so I suppose the question I'm asking is did anybody conceive naturally in the later half of the year-long timeframe? And did you feel as anxious as I do now (very)?

First DD took 6 months from coming off the pill, 2nd Dd took 2 months and then had 3 miscarriages over the next 2 years. Started to give up as I couldn't cope with another loss and now Dd3 is due in April.

It took almost a year to conceive DC1. I was a similar age to you, OP. I was starting to get a bit anxious then all of a sudden it happened.

We took more than a year and I got so anxious that it would never happen. We'd had various tests which picked up on a few issues so we got ready for IVF, then we got lucky the month before IVF was due to start and we conceived naturally.

At the time, I was part of a thread of ladies who were struggling to conceive (I think it ranged from trying for a year to several years). Of the 6 of us, 3 of us eventually conceived naturally and 2 did from IVF. I have learned from this, and from seeing other friends try for a year+, that it is REALLY common for healthy people to take more than a year to conceive. Try not to worry that something awful must be up if it hasn't happened within 12 months Smile!

Good luck x

Two months first time round, 19 months for this second one. And god I am I more anxious with this pregnancy because of it. A year and seven months is a long time to be tracking cervical mucous, periods, cervical position and temps. I don't think I'd have the strength to do it all over again.

Thanks for all of your responses. It's bizarre how it can happen so quickly sometimes then take muc longer other times!
With a much more positive attitude, I'm ready to face cycle 9. Congratulations to you who've got your BFPs. Hope all is well!
