My first post, and I'm still trying to figure out a lot of the abbreviations! We have been TTC our 2nd child since September. This month I decided to try the ovulation tests when my app said I should be ovulating & they are
Negative.

My question is, as we have only been trying for 5/6 months, is it worth a visit to the GP? Will she just tell me to come back in another 6 months? I know it's fairly early on to start to worry..

Depends on your age. Under 35, they'll say give it another 6 months, over, they may run tests.
To be honest, it takes quite a lot of testing to get accurate ovulation tests. For example, I only got my positives after lunch and two days before I actually ovulated. I found the clear blue fertility monitor a lot easier to use, but it also comes with quite a price tag. You could also try monitoring your Basel body temperature. This won't tell you prior to ovulation, but it will confirm it afterwards.

PS. Ignore your app. It can only guess when you ovulating based on averages. Everyone is different.

Ok thanks. I'm almost 33. Have seen the clear blue one, and may try that if no success next couple of months. I guess no harm in just letting the GP know I'm trying. Will see how I go.

Hi Jemma my advise would be to get loads of the cheap ov tests from Amazon and just poas with FMU and just after lunch everyday from CD7. When you get your positive OPK you know you will ov in next 48 hours. I always thought i ov'd on CD14 but actually i didn't even get a positive OPK unil CD15 so don't give up hope!

Do not use your first morning wee on ovulation tests. It is a waste of time and money as the luteinising hormone is not released into your wee so soon in the day. Late morning and mid afternoon should suffice.

I get a better result on FMU but Delilah is right in that most people need afternoon urine after 4 hours of holding... i was just suggesting to cover all bases Smile

I use the clear blue digital and the tests said I was ovulating later than the app and the day I got my solid smiley face I tested in the morning and it was negative but then got a lot of egg white CF and on the evening i took another test and it was positive.

Don't worry massively. I never got a positive ovulation thingy yet have an 11 month sleeping upstairs...
I am currently pregnant again and did get one positive opk then got my bfp 9 days later so unsure how accurate the opk actually was!
I am sure all is fine for you!
