Welcome to our third thread on PCOS. What we don't know isn't really worth knowing. We're a friendly bunch of women who have a few things in common. We all have either PCOS or unexplained infertility and we're all on a mission for a BFP!!!!

For new members, and old alike here are the links to our 1st and 2nd threads:

Now without further ado, let's continue on our journey.......

Hi ladies - thanks for the new thread Amy.

I actually took some time to read the previous threads over the weekend and it was really emotional actually - hearing of the highs and lows, and also learning that so many had been on a similar journey.

To any complete newbies I would really recommend reading the previous threads. I feel very lucky to have found these lovely ladies, they are a real support when things get tough and its nice to be in it all together.

.....and yes you two, you are more than overdue your BFP! Flowers

AFM, I had my day 2-5 bloods this morning and am booked to see the doctor on Friday. Not really sure what to expect (I think she mentioned starting on Metformin??) but at least things are moving now and I'm able to get in front of people to speak to them.

Anything I should make sure I ask / do / dont do at the appointment? x

Hi all does anyone experience more frequent periods with pcos such as every 2 weeks.

Report
YouBoggleMyMind · 28/11/2016 12:13

lookin not sure anyone can help with frequent AF on here, most of us need to induce AF with provera etc.

summer, if you're in the investigation stage then I'd ask about referrals etc and how long it takes.

Has anyone heard of a mooncup to help conceive? Apparently if you put it in post sex the sperm doesnt fall out hence increasing chances!

Thanks for the new thread Amy!

I am CD14, no LH surge on my OPKs yet, I reckon it will be tomorrow, or wednesday.

I really need to lose a bit more weight though. I got down to a BMI of 24.9 for my first clinic appointment, but I have put on 4 kg in the 2 months since then. Time to start logging what I eat on myfitnesspal again Sad.

Lookinatu I have PCOS and actually went through a phase for about 7 months where I was bleeding around every 2 weeks. It was pretty light though, more spotting than period. It is defintiely something to talk to your GP about though. If you are bleeding that frequently, you are likely not ovulating and the GP can probably prescribe you something to sort you out.

Would anyone be up for (re)-posting quick intros, like you had on the first thread? The old threads are quite a lot to trawl through and I feel like there have been quite a lot of new faces (myself included) in the past couple of months. I'll go first and hopefully others will want to follow?

Treatment so far: 7 rounds of clomid (50, 100, 150) with provera to induce AF. Last 3 rounds with merformin. Actually ovulated on round 5 but didn't work, round 6 worked but I had an early miscarriage. Round 7 didn't work at all and now about to start my final round of clomid with metformin. Will have provera to induce AF.

TTC#1 Since M/C in early July
Diagnosis: PCOS
Treatment: Nothing so far, hoping to try Metformin again soon as I have been on it perviously.
Next Milestone: Not so much a milestone, but it seems my cycles are getting shorter, going from 47-52 days, to 29-33 so I am hoping that's a good sign, although yet to see a positive OPK so it's an OPK free month for me this month, back to focusing on DTD every other day and hoping for the best.

This thread has been such a reassurance to me recently while I fret over OPK's and a baby never happening.

Also yes to the period every 2 weeks! In 2014 I had a phase were I was basically always bleeding to some extent from August to November! It was hellish and felt never ending but it did eventually just stop, and it's not happened again since.

Ttc #1 - came off pill end of March 2016 and since then cycles have got longer and longer until they stopped. Latest AF provera induced
Diagnosis: tbc 100% on Friday but more than likely to be PCOS given my ultrasound. My previous blood results were not too typical of PCOS and the doc is considering if it might be PCO with lasting BC effects. Had another blood test yesterday (Mon) so will be getting the result Friday.
Next step: Get a proper hold on what is going on this Friday, and then Metformin I think as that was what we briefly discussed in my last appointment.

Had been feeling ok at the idea of having more tests and getting more answers, although lastnight again I just became so overwhelmed with the mountain that lay ahead of us, it worries me just how much fight we are going to need :( This thread has been such a help though, I wish everyone the best and hope that by the other end of this we'll have another set of BFPs x

So I said before that I really want to get back down to a healthy BMI before I get pregnant. I reached that goal a few months back, but have let things slip since. Actually I have been losing and gaining the same 5kg (~10lb) for a few years now.

Yesterday I managed to eat 'healthily' (which for me just means not eating too many calories) for the first time in a while, and am hoping to keep it up again today. I always find that it is the first few days that are really hard. If I can just persevere through to the end of the week, it should get much easier.

Been thinking about ivf today. If it gets to that do you plan to go nhs or private? X

Haha elly! Maybe if van gough was around now, he may have painted minions!l

fluffy, we will go through the NHS for IVF if it gets to that. We can't afford private treatment.

I wouldn't be offered nhs because my bmi is too high.

I'm remaining optimistic about clomid though 😊
