App confusion- please help

Hi all

Been trying to conceive DC2 for nearly a year. In the last 3 months I've been using "Period Tracker Lite" to try and work out when I'm ovulating. I really don't want to use OPKs because I can see myself getting a little obsessed (the fact I'm still not pregnant has already got me a little upset and ALOT crazy).

The reason I'm confused is because the app gives me a predictive 5 days when I'm most likely to be fertile and ovulating BUT when I google when I'm most likely to be fertile/ovulating, google gives me completely different dates! I'm really frustrated :(

Apps and computers are not people and can't really handle the nuance that is a woman's body... especially if you are working with quite limited data (ie no bbt and no opks).

How long is your cycle usually? Ovulation as a normal 28 day cycle would happen on day 14. You are most fertile for the 3 days before and day of ovulation.

Neither an app nor Google can tell you when you ovulate as everyone is different and they only use averages. What if you are stressed one month and ovulate a week later than usual and miss it completely? You wouldn't know until your period is a week late. The only sure fire way is a combination of opks and bbt charting. I did these for about 8 months so I could see how long my luteal phase was. I don't do them anymore now I know the physical signs (I cramp as well as getting ewcm).

Thank you for your replies :)

Everything you have said I am aware of- I was just wondering why the app has given me completely different dates to when I google my cycles.

I know the app or google won't be able to give me the exact dates I ovulate but as I said I really don't want to be going down the route of OPKs and BBT just yet.
