all first time posting so sorry if i dont use the correct names ect and hope you all dont mind me posting.

me and my other half have been together two years now (both 28), when we got together i knew he wanted kids same as me but over the last few months iv been wanted to start trying. to my surprise he was the one who brought it up and asked if we could try (he not big on talking about personal stuff)
that was half way through the month and we agreed to start on my next cycle.

iv always had a 28 day cycle and always right on time - i know the dates ect i will start.

and i always have the same symptoms before hand - few days leading up bad bak ach sore boobs itchy legs. the day before i have cramps and then back ach on the first day then pretty much nothing apart from the odd cramp untill i finish - heavy first day then getting lighter till i finish.
you prob didnt need to know that sorry

anyway other half has traveled this month to visit family so we last 'did it' two weeks ago and im due on tomorrow (cramps and backach prove it lol) so will be starting once finished

can anyone offer advice on ttc? iv never tracked my ovulation days but have brought some test strips- do i just do one every day once im finished till i find the right day? or will it only be after a certain amount of days?

i feel ill at the moment so hoping will be better soon sad had a cough which now turned in to a runny nose but also bad back ach cramps and feeling sick sad
thank you anyone who has read this im sorry if it makes no sense im very excited lol

First. You need to be taking at least folic acid for 3 months before TTC. Of course if you are trying now then please start it asap. I've started on prenatal vitamins today which includes folic acid but lots of others too.

Second. If you have a 28 day cycle you're ovulating on day 14. Start your ovulation sticks after AF (aunt flow - period) since it's your first cycle TTC. You should see a surge in the run up to day 14. Have sex every other day after your period up until the next one starts or that you're pregnant. Good luck!!

Also don't be scared to ask questions on the threads here, there's lots for first time TTC and also different "buses" for the months you are waiting to get a positive test. Lots of lovely people here.

Download an app that allows you to record your fertile signs (Ovia and Fertility Friend are commonly used here) so you can record when you have a positive ovulation test and the days you are on your period etc.

Do a bit of research on fertile signs and you should easily be able to pinpoint your ovulation and therefore manage to DTD on the right days smile

Here's the NHS recommendations for folic acid so you know.

As you can see, the NHS recommends folic acid before conceiving and during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Since you won't know for certain when you fall pregnant until a few weeks in, you should take it while TTC.
